I may actually show my face this year, but only on the condition that one of you guys can house me, including a trip from and back to the train station. (It's the easiest and cheapest way I've conjured so far to get there.) My car probably isn't up to the six hour drive from Northwest Arkansas (although for a train I'd have to drive at least to Little Rock, but that's not so far).

That, and my anniversary is a week and a half before the convention. I'll have to see what my plans are.

Hey guys;

Two weeks to go until full registration opens up, and only 25 people have registered at the website (this includes me and Doug, and the special guests, so there are actually much fewer attendees registered).

When Feb 1st dawns, full registration will open on all the games, and it's "First come first served". I expect certain games will fill up quickly (Tim Kask's games for certain, and Rob Kuntz's games filled up earliest last year). To sign up for a game, you will have to be registered through the site AND have your registration fee ($20) paid to enter your name for any of the games. Since it's fully automated this year, I can't "hold spaces" for anyone in any games.

I don't think any of the games will fill up immediately, but last year we had two intense periods of activitiy (right at signup, and about a month before the con) where most of the games filled up.

Also, Gus Landt is solicting for another tour of Reaper miniatures in Denton for the weekend. If you didn't get to go last year, it is really something to be seen! As we do not have a chartered bus this year, whoever wants to go will have to work out some sort of a ride share. The trip is well worth it!

Actually I have two more updates to post:

There are only a few gaming slots left for those that want to DM a game at the Con (at least a scheduled game).

We have 30 scheduled game slots with only 8 left.

Fri morn: 2 slots
Sat morn: 2 slots
Sat nite: 2 slots
Sun morn: 2 slots

So if you want to run a game at the Con... you need to let me or Mike know pretty soon... besides, at midnight CST on 02/01/10, registration opens for the games....

Yes we can ship it over seas... Mike is pro at shipping over seas

I am sure there might be a small shipping fee, but probably less than cost on the actual shipping (I shipped all won items in the USA last year free, so I ate about $7.00 shipping on each item that had to be shipped... there were only 3 I think) ... so I am sure we can eat the first $7.00 for your items should you win something.

To be honest, I found the registration panel confusing until I read closely enough to realize that registration for the convention (Event) was the first item on the list.

But mine is filed and you have my money.

Two great updates!

First, it's going to be a Swords and Wizardry kind of year! Matt "Mythmere" Finch, author of S&W, is kicking off a 5-part round-robin megadungeon crawl into the depths of Mythrus Tower. Starting Thursday night, and continuing Friday morning, Friday night, Saturday morning, and Saturday night, characters will enter a deadly megadungeon to see what treasure they find, and what kind of creatures they face, as they try to explore as many nooks and crannies of Mythrus Tower as possible! The entire Black Blade Publishing clan will be in on this; Matt, Allan Grohe, and Jon Hershberger will all be DMing sessions of this adventure, using the S&W core rules or the original OD&D rules (whichever you can get your hands on).

Players from earlier expeditions may use their same characters (with all their xp and treasure), and new players may freely join the party. Information, including maps, may be freely shared by those who undertook one of the earlier expeditions; in fact, this is encouraged. Treasure that’s looted by earlier expeditions will be gone; bodies left behind will still be there. This is an ongoing series of expeditions, not the same scenario being played over and over again.

Notes: Newly generated characters are also entered into the “Book of Names” of the Swords & Wizardry World of Mythrus campaign. These characters can be brought into later World of Mythrus events with their existing levels and equipment.

Mythrus Tower is a vast megadungeon, with all the traditional features from traps to tricks to wandering monsters. Bring your A-game; the upper levels are easy, but this is the real thing, not an introductory module.

Second; Jon Hershberger is going to time travel us back to the "good old days" with a 8 hour (or longer?) session set in the Wilderlands. He is running a special "Castle of the Mad Archmage" AD&D adventure/dungeon crawl all day Sunday. It will be broken up into two sessions, morning and afternoon. Players can continue their characters into the second session (if they survive), or new players can join after a lunch break. All in all, you can play from 9 am until 6 pm (or later) Sunday, reliving those great days when a typical weekend D&D session lasted until all the pop in the fridge and chips in the cupboard were gone! A special treat for any locals, or those staying over Sunday night.

Along with the megadungeon seminar Saturday afternoon, this weekend's schedule will be a pleasant experience to anyone who loves the old style dungeon crawl!
