Here's one...

I turn around once.
What is out will not get in.
I turn around again.
What is in will not get out.
What am I?

Ummm... are you a valve for a floodgate?

That's my guess. I can't help but think this has something to do with water.

WAIT! I think I've got it!

I don't know what the proper name for them is, but you're one of those containers of salt where, instead of removing a lid, you have to turn a plastic covering until you uncover some holes! You turn them, and the salt comes out... then you turn them again, and the salt won't mingle with dust and bugs that may be lingering in the air.

I hope the above made sense. Am I right?

Sorry but not even close. Here is a hint: I don't involve water.

Hmmm...ok.

Runs over fields and woods all day
Under the bed at night sits not alone,
With long tongue hanging out,
A-waiting for a bone.
Walk amongst the natives by day, but in your heart be Superman.

It has nothing to do with me until it has something to do with me.

A hoard of rings am I, but no fit gift for a bride;
I await a sword's kiss.
