Getting psyched for my first Halloween where there is actual autumn, so I'm listening to one of the great all-time Halloween sound effects albums. Sounds corny nowadays and even a little "wrong", but when I was a kid we'd bust this album out every year and we loved it.

Man I had that same album! That is a definite blast from the past!
I want to hear what you did in the dungeon, not the voting booth. Politics and rules minutia both bore me in my opinion.

Nightwish, Type O Neg, Helloween, and Skynyrd at work.
Lots of audiobooks on my commute.

But I've got a lead on a lovely new recording of some Palestrina by The Sixteen, so I may look to pick that up soon.

I've also been listening to recordings of the piano and recorder pieces I'm learning.

On a Pink Floyd bender as I spend some quality time with Illustrator's gradient mesh tool.

Fates Warning, last night, live. One advantage of their obscurity is I was 5 feet from the stage for a grand total of $20.

Magnificent show, as always, from one of my favorite bands.

RIP Allen Toussaint

I got to catch him perform twice, New Years Eve 2000 and again just this past Mardi Gras. Great show each time, and helluva nice guy.

Got my Christmas mix going:

Have a Merry Chess Christmas - Chuck Berry, Rotary Connection and etc. Bluesy and soulful.
Bob Dylan's Christmas in the Heart - slagged by the critics at the time, probably the best Christmas album of new music in the last 20 years. "Must Be Santa" is a classic.
Elvis' Christmas Album - Duh. "Santa Claus Is Back in Town" is still the dirtiest Christmas song of all time.
A Christmas Gift for You from Phil Spector - Greatest Christmas album of all time, with tons of Darlene Love.
The Ventures Christmas Album - Surf rock Christmas carols!
And of course, How the Grinch Stole Christmas with Boris Karloff's narration and Thurl Ravenscroft's singing.
"I woke up in a Soho doorway
A policeman knew my name
He said you can go sleep at home tonight
If you can get up and walk away"

Tenrai! Get your fuzz on:

These guys are friends of mine, and recently recorded four songs produced by Tad Doyle (of the eponymous 80s-90s band "Tad"), who also contributed vocals to a few tracks.
