Mad Max I'm excited about. Star Wars: Abrams Ruins Yet Another Franchise doesn't look that appealing to me, frankly.

Am I the only one who is disturbed by the fact that Chewie doesn't have grey hair and Han does? Who knew that such talented colourists live on Kashyyyk?!

I've ignored the new SW film until seeing this thread bumped, and then seeing someone link to the trailer on FB, so I watched the trailer.

It looks pretty good, but I think Abrams' trailers generally look good, so I'm not putting much hope into the film (but then, like Trent, I haven't done that in awhile anyway---although I thought that Attack of the Clones was the best of them after Empire).

I'll skip this unless there's some overwhelming support from guys I know loved the first three movies and hated the prequals (Clone Wars) very painful to watch. There simply has to be a sense of adventure, and minimal story. I agree the commercial looks good (though not a fan of the CGI and don't like storm troopers acting like robots. Far prefer the original take on these guys (more like annoying cops or occupying German forces).

Man... it's like you and Stormcrow go to the same support group or something.

The difference being, O Uninformed One, is that Abrams is a major SW junkie, but admitted to having never seen a ST episode or movie until he picked up Nu-Trek.

This would be like turning me and DungeonDelver loose with the SW franchise, except... uh... neither of us have any movie production experience.

I have a nine-year-old son. So, truthfully, there's no way that I could avoid seeing VII even if I wanted to. That said, I'm kind of getting excited about the possibly of actually enjoying it.

My granddaughter is 8 and a major Star Wars junkie (watched the original trilogy over 50 times, watches the Star Wars rebels cartoon, Clone Wars, etc). Never seen the prequels. She's stoked so her excitement is rubbing off on me. I guess I'll be bringing her there when it opens.

BTW, having had to involuntarily watch the trilogy some couple dozen times in the last couple of years I am much more accepting of RotJ. It's still light years better than any film in the prequel trilogy. I realize now I was just too old and jaded and angsty at the time (I was 15 when the original Star Wars came out, so in my 20s by the time RotJ was released) to like the last movie. It's for kids and it's probably my granddaughters favorite (it's the one she asks to see the most when she comes over).
