Indeed. Still, I got to spend a good chunk of my research money on a fancy new desktop the other day. Windows 10 seems to have improved a lot.

My wife and her siblings have rented a beach house in Gulf Shores, AL for a mini-family reunion. We are heading out today, coming back Friday. Should be fun.

Today I'm driving my wife over to the Asian market so she can get gyoza wrappers and other stuff we can't find in regular supermarkets. (I suggested making homemade gyoza wrappers, but this proposal wasn't well received...) We have family coming in for the holiday: we'll be having gyoza one day, and probably grilling on the actual 4th. I'm thinking we'll grill kalbi, so I guess we'll get the stuff for that, too. If I have time I may swing by the car wash: my truck is covered with dust, and I like it shiny (it's fairly new, so I'm still "doting on it").

Also need to stop by the music store and pick up some new guitar strings. Later I'll be working on playing/singing a new song (a cover of It's Not Supposed To Be That Way), and maybe trying to arrange a violin and viola part for it. (My daughters are classically trained, so they're not very good at "just playing" in a given key -- they need standard notation.)

Tomorrow I'll be going on a bike ride along Spring Creek Greenway. Due to weather and work and stuff I've been off the bike for a week or two, so I'm a little apprehensive about the long (for me) ride. We'll see how it goes.

Today:
Went to the farmer's market, picked up a few bottles of beer, raspberry syrup and jam, and some pretty decent cheese
Spent an hour with my parents at a beer garden watching the river traffic and the ferry come and go (their new habit, and surprisingly relaxing)
Took the naps I have been missing these last weeks
Wrote half of next week's adventure in the afternoon
Built a fire on the terrace for the evening barbecue

Tomorrow:
Got to finish that adventure

Rode the greenway this morning. Not having ridden for a while (it was about a month, actually), made that brutal. The ride out wasn't bad, but I struggled on the return trip. I'm wiped out.

EDIT: (1749) Grilling pork chops and drinking beer.

Apparently, we are forecast rain all weekend, so probably nothing too adventurous.

Weekly game tonight. Gotta prep properly. (I know wine is a bit uncharacteristic for me but it went with my dinner).

So in yesterday's game, the characters lost a magical spear after using it to poke an ooze stuck to the ceiling. The spear failed its saving throw and got eaten.

In today's game, one PC was petrified after kissing a statue after drinking a love potion, but returned via a wish granted by a magical goldfish. Another died after trying to extract the poison of a death sheep - not even wolfsbane (which would after all help against wolves in sheep's clothing) seemed to help, until the player remembered he had a bonus on poison saving throws. So, the PC, who has already been given funeral rites, and had his equipment divided among his peers, sat up on the funeral bier the company's henchmen were carrying him (an enchanted, intelligent table named Cecil), and started asking for his stuff back. He died again, though, this time to a dark druid's nightshade-envenomed blade.

One of those weekends.

Watched movies and hung out with the family. Mercury is topping 100 degress, so we're just laying low and hibernating in the air conditioning.
