He thinks Elmore sucks, he doesn't have to defend that anymore than you have to defend your position. How I read it, is that Elmore started off pretty good, but then declined into banality.

Is Elmore technically talented? I hadn't heard that disputed. Did he sell out to the man and start producing mediocre crap? Well, that's obviously the view held by some, and I can see their point. Static poses of pretty ladies is eye candy, but I don't know how inspiring that is for gaming material. Now, if he could have added some of Angus McBride's balls to his art, then maybe he'd get a kinder review of his later work. Of course, that wouldn't have fit in the Kinder Gentler D&D either.
Man, I love Angus McBride's work on the Osprey publishing books!

You know guys, there's saying things as you see them, then there's being juvenile. You crossed that line a long time ago

I don't know exactly what's been going on the past couple pages of this thread, and don't really want to (I'll confess that after the last few days I'm just about internet-drama'd out), but I'm getting PMs complaining about it, so let's just make the blanket statement that if you've been acting inappropriately in this thread (and I strongly suspect that all those who have know that they have) please stop doing so. If you're not done fighting yet and want to get the last word in, too bad. Blame me for censoring you if you must (but don't do it here).

I would like to add that the Elmore titties from my avatar are from the 1e wonderfulness of Nulb. What a hot little Nulbie wench. Also, I may be drunk on both bourbon AND throwing mastodons at my players tonight. Elmore Titties RUle!

I have to admit, Elmore sure knows how to draw landscapes. Some of the best I've seen in rpg art.

Good art is not always clean lines and a bitchin pose.

Speaking of bitchin, Holloway has been on a roll lately.

Wow! Maybe we need a "What's with all the Hatin' on Larry Elmore" thread?

As to playing "safety AD&D" we were all Care Bears eating Strawberry Shortcake (take that as you will...) Oh and we were using inflatable dice too!
I may not be - I may not be the fastest - I may not be the tallest - Or the strongest
I may not be the best - Or the brightest
But one thing I can do better - Than anyone else...That is - To be me (Leonard Nimoy)

Wow, your game is EXACTLY like mine! Except for the half-orc plush miniatures and dice. Sooo pretty

They actually kept "half-orc" in the text? Geez, you'd figure that would have offended someone, been done away with and replaced with something like Huu'or'Moselee'huum'An.

Sure, and with that little detail you can tell there's not really any 2e afoot. :D

Whoosh.
And, amusingly, now so have you.

And you're a drone who is demanding my attention when he hasn't earned it.
If no one else smacked you for this yet Semaj, I don't consider the attack on Larry Elmore to be ad hominem because it wasn't in a discussion with Larry Elmore, but calling Piper a "drone," even though it's mild and I'm sure he brushed it off, is a foul. Cut it out.

This is technically a foul also, although I'm taking note of the fact that both of you are restricting yourselves to a "you're a poo-head" level of insults, which is at least moderately restrained. Nevertheless, cut it out on this thread - there's too much dynamite lying around for you guys to be playing with sparklers.

Dude, I was playing D&D in 1976 and I can assure you that the personal hygiene-challenged were present even back then. :)
