You're out of line.

I've met Larry Elmore and this is an unfair characterization. I can't speak personally to your assessment of 2e, having never played it, but I have a problem with what you said about Larry.

Apparently, and I shit you not, Elmore ranks in Gygax's top 4 D&D artists...

If we were to have seen a Gygaxian second edition, there is little doubt that it would have featured quite a lot of the same art.

Actually 2e discussion on these boards, as far as I know, is out of line. There are other boards for those that desire a friendly reception for that version of the game.

On these boards, 1e rules the roost. At least, that's my understanding.

I was considering my own 2e snark, but while waiting to see if the 2e-isms would continue, semaj beat me to the punch. I wouldn't have targeted Elmore myself, but that just goes to show you the diversity at K&KA. :P

I didn't bring it up and I don't give a flip about 2e. That was an unfair personal attack on Larry Elmore. I'm merely the one that is challenging what was said.

If you (collectively speaking) choose to post personal attacks, expect to be called down on it. I know the posted opinion to be incorrect, and I will say something.

Try to shut me up. I fucking dare you.

Me? I don't bite on anything less than a double dog dare.

The last D&D session in which I played was 2E, with the same fellows with whom I had been playing OD&D before, and it was just plain fun D&D.

Were you Strawberry Shortcake?

I have a problem with death and taxes... however...

Okay then, put your cites where your mouth is.

I am not best friends with Larry Elmore, but I've met him and spoken with him at length about his art and his tenure as TSR. From where I stand, what you posted about him is words without substance.

Cites? Dude, this isn't a college debate team. You act like I just insulted your mother or someone equally dear.

I think the guy whored out on his artwork. It used to be good, but with the big corporate change over, he started doing melodramatic crap like you find in the 2e book. Crap.

I don't like it. I think he sold out. I could care less who you talked to or what you talked about... unless you talked to Hayden Panetierre, in which case pics or it didn't happen.

I personally don't care if you are "offended" by my comments.

Ok, that's kinda pitiful, man.

Larry "The Corporate Whore" Elmore. It kinda rhymes. I think there's a limerick in there somewhere.

There once was a Corporate Whore
By the name of Larry Elmore.
At one time he could draw,
But now his best scrawl
Is behind the men's room door.

Meh. Needs work.

You're a four-flusher and got called down on it. Inability to defend your position noted.

And you're a drone who is demanding my attention when he hasn't earned it.

He thinks Elmore sucks, he doesn't have to defend that anymore than you have to defend your position. How I read it, is that Elmore started off pretty good, but then declined into banality.

Is Elmore technically talented? I hadn't heard that disputed. Did he sell out to the man and start producing mediocre crap? Well, that's obviously the view held by some, and I can see their point. Static poses of pretty ladies is eye candy, but I don't know how inspiring that is for gaming material. Now, if he could have added some of Angus McBride's balls to his art, then maybe he'd get a kinder review of his later work. Of course, that wouldn't have fit in the Kinder Gentler D&D either.

I don't want your attention and never asked for it. As far as earning it goes, it seems I "earned" it without even trying; giving some indication of what it is worth.

You are incapable of forming a cogent argument to back up all the hot air you're generating. Anyone can attack another person's integrity, you've proved that. What I've proved is that you were simply lashing out at another person who worked on a game ... a GAME ... you didn't like. This sin earned him the label of whore in your eyes.

That says far more about you than most persons would admit to in public.
