Yes. Most of the University of Dallas' student population will have gone home for the long vac. I expect the booze merchants will be thrilled.Stonegiant wrote:Is there enough alcohol in this area to handle this influx of drinkers?Wheggi wrote:Ha, I knew calling you names would work! Mike, I'm now officially signed up, and plan to be discreetly drinking the whole time, so if some wrestling happens, we can chalk it up to a great weekend!Badmike wrote:Awesome, I get to tell you how you are running AD&D wrong in person!!!!! I signed up for one AD&D game; the rest is weird shit I have never played before (like OD&D
I posted this elsewhere but here is a primer on available openings in games as of today (March 29, 2009 my grandson's 6th Birthday! He's getting to pick out his first set of poly dice today. But I digress....)SirAllen wrote:Mike, I'm now officially signed up, and plan to be discreetly drinking the whole time, so if some wrestling happens, we can chalk it up to a great weekend!Badmike wrote:Awesome, I get to tell you how you are running AD&D wrong in person!!!!! As of today, here are some under-represented games or games with openings. Remember part of a con is perhaps trying something new or different, cause it might be the next big thing....I sat in on Matt's S&W game last year even though I didn't know a lot about it.
Thursday night:
Steve Winter is running Gamma World from the 1990's version (not the new d20 version). How often do you get original GW at a gaming con? He has plenty of openings.
Paul Elkmann is running the JG module Treasure Vaults of Lindoran and has openings. Paul is the author of this module under the pen name "Geoff Dale" (and the classic Inferno) so this will be a pretty authentic old school experience with AD&D 1E.
Friday morning:
Alex Johnson is running a D&D expert game and has openings.
Joe Ross (Northrundicus here and elsewhere) is running a 1E game and has openings.
Saturday night:
Kyrinn Eis is running playtests of her new game World of Urutsk, which is a post-apocalyptic game combining SF and fantasy, has openings both Friday and Saturday nights.
Ben Burns is running a 1E game and has openings.
Bill Barsh is running his new adventure "The Blood Cult" which is 1E and had openings.
Sunday morning:
Mike Stewart (Sieg) is running a D&D basic game written by Thorkhammer and has openings.

No deadline for registering, but games are filling up.....DungeonDork wrote:Barring my untimely demise, I now have a 99.9% certainty that I will be attending.
Is there any deadline for registration that I should be aware of?
I don't have to game with the guys from Houston do I?
I see them all the time!
(j/k guys)
Saturday morning is completely full however we still have a couple of tables available so we are looking for another game, we would rather someone who is not running a game but we have a few ideas.
There is a deadline for the room deal (I think it's May 20th).
We only have a dozen or so rooms still available at the cheap con price. You can only get the deal by calling directly, if you try to do it online it will come up that the entire hotel is full. Call the hotel directly and ask for the North Texas Con RPG rate. BTW sharing rooms is a good idea since they are all so big. I would recommend getting rooms early otherwise it's other accomodations (and no other hotels are neaby enough to say walk over, however, they are cheaper if you don't mind a Red Roof Inn, etc)
You don't have to game with the guys from Houston. As a matter of fact I would advise against it, as I hear some of their "table manners" are grotesque, to say the least....
Glad to have you aboard!
