Hello Lance,

Thank you for the vote of confidence. In my opinion, there is more at stake than simply being faithful to Gary's style and vision; Gary and I had scores of lengthy conversations regarding the entire scope of the project. Whomever the new developer might be, that person will never be privy to what Gary and I shared. Notwithstanding, I hold out hope that the new developer will blow our minds with an incredible product. If not, we do what guys like us have always done, eh mate? We bust out the graph paper and pencil, and we get to work, just like Gary did. It's all just imagination, after all.

Cheers,
Jeff T.

If you're still reading this thread, I just wanted to thank you publicly for your attention to detail, your faithfulness to the spirit of The Castle, and your resolution to see the Castle Zagyg: Upper Works through to completion. I’m not near the Greyhawk loremaster that many of my peers are, but I can appreciate the historical significance of your contribution to the legend of The Castle.

I can also appreciate the long hours and commitment that you devoted to this project to bringing this installment of Castle Zagyg to the gaming community. You are a class act from the word go, and we are deeply indebted to you for your efforts.

Good luck in your future projects – I’m looking forward to the next one already. And the next time you’re back at Gen Con, let’s try to get together.

Hello Jon,

Scarcely a day (or few days) go by that I do not stop by to browse for new threads at K&KA. And since this thread has my name on it (what an egomaniac!) . . . .

Jon, I'm overwhelmed and embarrassed by the kind words. I'd rather you curse at me as we swill beer together. I'd be more in my comfort zone . . . ;) Do you have any other convention plans this year?

Seriously, I had the time of my life developing The Upper Works, and I will always cherish the memory of working for, with, and consequently becoming pals with Gary Gygax. I consider the entire affair to have been a rare and undeserved privilege.

Also, I never say it enough, and I'm sure some of my fellow designers/developers/authors here can attest to this: I owe a lot, and I mean A LOT, to my playtesters. We playtested the entire Upper Works as I developed it, and every week I would bring back a list of scribbled notes to improve the clarity and playability of the adventure. I consider the assistance of my fellows on the other side of the DM's screen to be invaluable.

Cheers,
Jeff T.

Well, I can accomodate that request (to curse at you as we swill beer together)!

Unfortunately, the convention plans for this year may be at an end for this lowly DM. Not that the heart isn't willing...but with three young kids, fairly tight personal finances and staggering travel costs, the prospects don't look very good at this point.

I have a friend that is trying to drag me to a mid-sized con in Denver in February, but that looks doubtful for a couple of reasons. And I'd love to return to Lake Geneva for LGGC next summer, but I can't say whether that is a 'go' or 'no-go' for a while.

How about you - are there any NE regional cons that you're planning to attend in the coming months? (You're in the NE, aren't you?)

How about Totalcon?

Total Confusion will again be held at the Holiday Inn in Mansfield, Massachusetts. This four (4) day convention will be taking place February 19-22, 2009.

Totalcon has announced that Frank Mentzer will be attending their convening this February in Mansfield MA. This year Totalcon is expanding its 1st Edition games and plans to have Frank Mentzer leading the way. Frank will be running his popular 1st Edition AD&D convention modules that were fan favorites 30 years ago.

As also discussed in Frank's Q&A thread on Dragonsfoot.

Just to let ya know.
