Forgot about that one. Thankfully. Until now.

He'd said in an interview something along the lines of that he was drawn to test his acting skills playing the vilest character imaginable. I suppose he can tick that off his bucket list.
I sincerely hope he's not the Heath Ledger type of actor who takes his work home with him at night.

Watched Battle Royale (2001 special edition) with a friend who had never seen it before, so I clicked over to English dubbing with English subtitles, since he wasn't about to watch it in original Japanese.

But the English dub is on par with anime English dubbing. Ridiculously bad. Or should I say, badly ridiculous?

Just started watching Space: 1999. All of it is available on archive.org.
Youtube has most of the Space 1999 series. I re-watched the episode "Death's Other Dominion" again this week, solely because I needed a good Brian Blessed session.

Coincidentally (or not) Brian Blessed was very active as a guest star in the mid 70's in science fiction shows like Blake's 7 and later a major NPC part in Flash Gordon and the first season of Blackadder.

Black Adder may well have been the first thing I saw him do.

Brian Blessed was also a serious contender for the Fifth Doctor when Tom Baker was stepping down.

That would have been epic. "Doctor's ALIVE!"

Wow. I haven't seen Space 1999 since.....well before 1999.....I didn't think that show made it out of the 70s. It probably should have stayed there. I remember waiting with such anticipation for that series to arrive on TV after seeing the trailers. It was such a disappointment. To me anyway.

I would probably enjoy that myself. I did not realize it was on Netflix. I will have to look for it. I saw RUSH live back in the late 80s in Dallas at Reunion arena with a bunch of friends from college. It was a great concert. The backup band was Tommy Shaw from Styx who played a whole lot of their stuff before RUSH came on stage. Ended up being one of the better live shows that I have seen.

Just finished the run of Firefly. Again. :)
I know it gets mixed reviews here, but it definitely feels like a cross between Star Trek and D&D to me. :)
I really enjoyed Firefly/Serenity. It is a shame that they only made the one season (and one movie). The guy who wrote Firefly based it on the role playing game Traveller (so he stated in some interviews after the series ran). Apparently he used to play it as a kid. Anyone who has played Traveller can easily see the similarity with the game.

It was a good show, if for nothing else but the dialogue itself. Strangely, my late father couldn't stand it, and it seemed like something right up his alley.

You know it is kind of funny. I really thought my brother would like it too. So I recommended it to him. And he watched only one episode. I guess not everyone gets into it.

Watched Stagecoach (1939), the Ford/John Wayne film with my wife and teenage daughter. It was enjoyed by all.

I am not taking or implying any political position here, but the banker's speech was enlightening in how contemporary it sounded---proving once again that despite how modern and enlightened we believe we are, human problems and thinking tends to be cyclical (or even immobile!). Those that are ignorant of the past are doomed to repeat it, etc. Every era was "tumultuous". Every decision was "uniquely important". ...and yet, here we are....right where we have always been. :)

The episodes are hit or miss. Some are really 70's bad, and some (like Death's Other Dominion") are some of the better. I'd have to scroll through the episodes I've seen so far, but I do remember one where they visit a Metamorphosis Alpha-like complex and society.

Having grown up with Doctor Who level of production values, I'm used to shows like Space:1999, UFO, Blake's 7, etc. and I don't hold bad spfx against it. Horrible acting? Incomprehensible or barely plausible scripts? Well, that's another matter, and what I hang most sci-fi shows from that era on.

Its about that time of year when I re-watch the entire run again! Fantastic show!
