What Are You Watching?

Re: What Are You Watching?
Shutter Island landed on Netflix and I watched it last Friday. I thought it was brilliant. The gorgeous visuals, film-noir style, and mind bending is right up my alley. I felt mentally unsettled after it ended.
Scorsese nailed it IMO. It was a Twilight Zone episode writ large.

There's a reason I put this behind spoiler tags.Landifarne wrote: ↑Sun Feb 07, 2021 11:32 amYeah, wasn't expecting that...and the way it was handled was very poor.
I disagree that it wasn't handled well.

TRP...who IS that in your avatar?

Yeah, I always thought that was Stan The Man.

Re: What Are You Watching?
Cool. I thought is was either Lee or Hefner---but that was a "look" in the 70's and I wanted to be sure. (Hefner never had a mustache, IIRC.)
Thanks.
Thanks.

At low resolution, I always thought it was Frank Zappa, but now that I see it up on my big-screen, his hair is too straight for Zappa's.

I thought it was John Astin.

LOL, yeah, I can see that too. I guess it's the maniacal look while smoking a cigar that gives that appearance.

Just started watching Space: 1999. All of it is available on archive.org.

Ya know, I remember being all about that show when it originally aired. I was riding the crest of Star Trek reruns, and this seemed more of the same. I mostly have fond memories of it... BUT... tried to watch an episode a couple of years ago, and couldn't get past the theme song switching back and forth between funk guitar and orchestra music.

It was on WGN out of Chicago when I was a kid. Figured I'd give it a shot, with zero expectations.JCBoney wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 2:46 pmYa know, I remember being all about that show when it originally aired. I do kinda miss "the future and space is WEIRD, MAN!" vibe of the 70s, which this seems to have.

Watched Star Trek III: TSFS the other day. I’ve seen it only once before, a decade ago. It’s great fun, I can’t hate it, only it’s SOOO 80s.
