I'll see it. It looks like mindless action, but that's a nice change of pace every now and then :)

I'm not convinced that a Mad Max movie should be a big-budget epic. The first and second movies were full of awesomeness on low and medium budgets. Look what happened then at Thunderdome.

Still, I'm going to choose optimism here, and give Miller the benefit of the doubt. Let's assume he's found a way to keep Max cool with a big budget.

My only concern is that he'll rely too much on CGI and not enough on actual stunt driving, which for me is one of the biggest draws of the franchise.

Looks like fun, but then so did Conan the Barbarian. Here is hoping! :D

I'm going to wait to see it but man, the names of the characters (including Mad Max, come to think of it) sound like they're straight off of Gary's gaming table from back in the day. Behold:

Imperator Furiosa
King Immortan Joe
The Splendid Angharad
Toast the Knowing
Cheedo the Fragile

...I mean, come on, doesn't that sound like a pregens list for a Gencon IX tourney module?!

Yes, avoid Thunderdome, especially if you haven't watched the 1st two films. I'd only recommend Thunderdome if you're a completist, and you go into it fully aware that it is a defective product.

Given that The Interceptor appears in Fury Road (I did see a shot of it, although it may have been just a cameo) I wonder if this film chronologically happens between Mad Max and The Road Warrior.

On the other hand things look so far gone - language breaking down, etc., that I wonder if it's just some time after Thunderdome.

I noticed that yesterday. I'm (pleasantly) surprised how positive the reception has been so far.

rottentomatoes' reviewers and I have been disagreeing a lot lately over movies, but I gotta say that 98% fresh is impressive and encouraging.
