What about a cross between Car Wars and Boot Hill? Unfortunately I don't know enough about the mechanics of the latter to know the answer, but the Mad Max setup definitely has a Western vibe for me.

I've only ever played Car Wars at GenCon, using matchbox cars. Too bad Rogue Judges don't run this event any more.

Looks like it will be a good movie.
I'm in a PA(Post-Apocalyptic) campaign right now, and those movies are always a great inspiration.
The campaign i'm in now, is d20 Post-Apocalypse...
Prespos
PS.
I would much rather that it would be GAMMA WORLD, though!
In the 80s, we quit D&D for a whole summer, and just played 2E GW. Great game...

All the trailers I see look great. Is that albino looking guy supposed to be the gyro pilot?
The only thing that keeps getting me is the car. The Pursuit Special. It looks like it gets wrecked early on in the movie. That was like one of the characters in MM and RW. It makes me a wee bit nervous that it may not be for this one. The effects look amazing though.
Thanks for sharing!

It might be a cameo; it can't be set between
Mad Max and
The Road Warrior because the XB Falcon was in TRW (until Humungus' men wrecked it and then set off the self-destruct), and obviously if it's
after, the car wouldn't be there at all. All Max had in
Beyond Thunderdome was a truck pulled by camels (stolen by Jedidiah & Son) and then the "train".
But I caught the scene too...I think it's probably just a cameo.

Does anyone know any more about this movie than what's been in the trailers? Is this a reboot or a sequel or what? Either way I'm in, because Tom Hardy is pretty much like a god to me.

George Miller has said that he's basically throwing the audience in to a 90-minute road chase sequence, with the story unfolding as it goes. Has high potential for suck, to be honest.

Well, Tom Hardy has a pretty good track record so far in movies that consist entirely of a 90 minute car ride. Maybe he can corner the genre

I refuse to accept that this movie may suck. It is Tom Hardy. It is George Miller. It's fucking MAD MAX. None of you haters can pop my balloon.

I'll be showing up to see shit get blown to bits. As long as they don't turn it into a hamfisted morality play, and there is a lot of FUCK YEAH BOOOOOOMMM!!!!!, I'll probably feel like it was money decently, if not well, spent. Plus, I'm about due for another Charlize Theron as a stone-cold cast-iron bitch movie.

Wheggi, francisca.. don't let the haters get you down, because...
PS - Yes, it will probably be disappointing in some way if not overall, but until then, I'm keeping my hopes up!

GF and I are both excited for this, but are planning to hedge our bets by seeing it drunk. We figure that way even if it's terrible we'll still have fun, if it's good we'll have even more fun, and if it's
really good we can go see it again sober and actually pay attention
