He's the guy in the hat in this clip:

I've never seen him in anything that wasn't a comedy, and I totally can't picture him as a credible villain - not least because he's really goofy-looking.

There's something sorta Keanu-esque about him.

Seeing a few trailers out there... I think these are legit. I'm cautiously optimistic. :)

Umm...okay. I guess we'll see in a year. I'll try to keep an open mind.

Why is the stormtrooper not a clone?
Soccer ball droid? Seriously?
Incredibly impractical lightsaber.

I'll still watch it.

At the risk of being dubbed an Abrams fanboi apologist...

I just assumed it was one of the heroes in disguise, like Luke and Han in the originals. If not, maybe they ran out of clones sometime after the clone wars. Of course, I'm also perfectly content to completely ignore everything other than episodes IV,V and VI.

For example, growing up, I always thought of the clone wars being about duplicates of mostly important people infiltrating areas, causing confusion and wreaking havoc. The Jango Fett clones inside Stormtroopers seemed like an uninspired shoehorning of an unexpectedly popular character into pre-history. I can envision the writers sitting around thinking it was brilliant retcon though.

Looks kinda silly without any context and maybe will still be silly even with context, but even so, it's already infinitely less irritating than Jar Jar Binks.
Incredibly impractical lightsaber.
I don't know, perhaps, chalk it up to the force allowing use of something a normal person would cut off his own hands using. It doesn't bother me really.

I think it all looks pretty bitchin' and fun and I cannot wait for all the Star Wars fanboy shut-ins to start raging about all the horrible offenses they find.

I love the shot with the x-wings flying over the lake, as well as the one where all the stormtroopers are lockin' and loadin'.

Agreed - those were cool. That x-wing shot's probably my favorite.

I have absolutely zero beef with the trailer, aside from putting the episode title between "Star" and "Wars". Rolling R2-D2, "Long Sword" light sabres and the like I have a totally open mind about. I hated the idea that every storm trooper is a clone of Jango Fett, so I would be perfectly happy if it turns out to be retroactively removed. The clone wars as depicted in episodes I-III were nothing like I imagined them (I think my main idea was that both sides were using cloning technology to reinforce their armies, and that there was something wrong with that, hence the lack of clones in episodes IV-VI.

I'm assuming the trooper armor is a disguise as well.
I like the design of the droid other than the "sports" vibe it's putting out.
Episodes I-III already put too many head nods to the "real world" in them and I dislike seeing that tradition continuing.
The light saber is totally impractical. You'll put your eye out, kid!

I love the x-wing shot as well.

It doesn't look so much like R2 as it does Vincent from Disney's The Black Hole.

That seems to be the substance of a lot of Interwebz chatter, and my assessment as well.

Maybe supposed to be some sort of clever easter egg nod to Disney taking control? Not that it matters much to me, honestly.
