Illusionists and 1st level M-U spells

Post by Nerelas »

I suspect this has been brought up before, but... When an illusionist (at 14th lvl) gains access to 1st level magic-user spells, do they gain (i.e., know) four when they take this "spell" (read magic, obviously, plus 3 others, just like a starting m-u as in DMG), and ALSO gain the ability to memorize 4 1st level m-u spells/day as a one 7th level illusionist spell, or just the former? I've never been entirely clear on this.

Yeah, that's why I pointed to the old thread. If we'd all agreed on a single conclusion I would've just posted what that conclusion was :)
