Exile on Main Street may just be the most overrated (to me) album I've ever heard. Frankly, I think it sucks. Tumbling Dice is an okay song, and the only listenable one on a double album. Bleh. Compare to any of their 60s albums. And yet it is held up for some reason as this lofty pinnacle of their career. I can't figure it out.Kellri wrote:Look at it this way... If the Stones re-released Exile on Main St, that doesn't mean you'd want to buy their most recent platter of hot-shit, NOR should it inspire anyone but the most venal cock-hungry fan-boy to want to help them with it for free.
Um, exactly my point - you should be rolling for yourself, not for the "other side" (which implies only one other side), and using lowest goes first. I prefer the original d6 to a d10 for many reasons, but either works.Ska wrote: OSRIC has the original initiative roll exactly right. As I discovered after e-mailing with Gygax, the key to understanding 1e initiative is that each side is actually rolling when the other side will act in the 10 segment sequence. I figured this out after Gygax told me he played now by rolling a 1d10 with the low roll going first. After this I took a second look at the spell casting times and realized that casting times fit in perfectly when one used initiative correctly. A very cool and efficient system which was disastrously explained.
