I'm shooting for Jeff's Thursday/Friday night 8PM-12AM games and Stormberg's Friday 10AM-5PM games at the moment (subject to tacojohn's Barsoom game, if it's still happening). Saturday's pretty free, as is midnight+ on all nights.

I wish I'd realized how much scheduled gaming would be going on during the day Thursday back when I bought my plane ticket (arriving midday Thursday). Last year nothing started until Friday morning..

Thursday evening crazy ol' Jon Johnson, Diaglo, MarkCMG and I were doing shots at the bar (in between getting picked off in Aliens). I felt bad for Diaglo - he was in pain the next day.

Thanks for the reminder, Chainsaw. I let this weekend slip away from me without getting my events submitted. (my dad's pretty sick right now and I was really focused on spending time with him, my mom, and my brother). I'll poke Chris and see if I can still submit some Barsoom games for the con. If not, maybe I'll run them as pick-up games.

Man, sorry to hear that Jon. :(

Obviously gaming takes a backseat to sick parents.

Cool, no worries. Still a long time away.

Good news!

ligedog has booked a flight and plans to attend GC - that means three from the Charlotte contingent: me, capitalbill and ligedog. :)

Should be awesome.

Look at Chainsaw converting everyone at the gametable. First he got me on both GaryCon and NTRPG, then he got Ligedog on GaryCon. I saw him eyeing Fridgeghiz and Fenriswolf on Sunday. I think he'll be bringing more Kool-Aid around next game for them to drink. 8)

Finally submitted my events for Gary Con tonight. Here's what I'm throwing out for consideration:

Game Title: Heroes of Barsoom Episode 1: The Lost Sextant of Invak
Game System: AD&D (adaptation of Warriors of Mars)
Number of Players: 4-8
Pregens/Level of Characters: Yes – PC levels 6-7
World Setting: Barsoom (that is, Edgar Rice Burroughs’ John Carter’s Mars)
Time Needed: 5 hours
Day Friday
Time 10:00 AM

Short Description:

The old astronomer Tor Vanis was said to be the foremost expert in all of Barsoom on matters pertaining to the stars and planets. His crowning achievement, after a lifetime of accomplishments and honors, was the invention of a highly sensitive astronavigation sextant, an instrument believed to enable space travel. According to legend, Tor’s workshop, astrophysics laboratory and larger demesne were located near the ancient city of Invak, in the Forest of Lost Men.

The PCs have been dispatched to the Forest of Lost Men to search the vast and dense Forest for Tor Vanis’ demesne. The Jeddaks of Helium would have Tor Vanis’ research and his Lost Sextant of Invak.

This event uses AD&D as a base game system, adapted to the setting of John Carter’s Mars.

Game Title: Heroes of Barsoom – Episode 2: The Dead City of Thorzak
Game System: AD&D adaptation of Warriors of Mars
Number of Players: 4-8
Pregens/Level of Characters: Yes – PC levels 6-7
World Setting: Barsoom (that is, Edgar Rice Burroughs’ John Carter’s Mars)
Time Needed: 4-6 hours
Day Saturday
Time 10:00 AM

Short Description:

The Prince and Princess of Kobol were traveling to Panar near the North Pole of Barsoom and should have returned to Kobol by now. The Jed of Kobol has petitioned Jedwars of Helium to dispatch search and rescue teams to find the young nobles of Kobol. The PCs were sent on one such search and rescue mission a couple of weeks ago. After having covered thousands of miles in your search quadrant, your team has discovered a rogue navy of mercenaries. They left behind them a burning field of battle, with numerous flying vessels demolished and abandoned, some still adrift above the ground, their radium tanks still supporting them.

The rogue navy has occupied an ancient city – the Dead City of Thorzak. The party is to sneak into the Dead City of Thorzak to see if the rogue navy has any connection to the missing Prince and Princess of Kobol.

This event uses AD&D as a base game system, adapted to the setting of John Carter’s Mars.

So... what are you guys thinking for events? We had talked about coordinating a bit, if possible.

I am thinking of aiming for Jon's 10AM Friday Barsoom game (rather than the Saturday 10AM game).

I am thinking either Jeff's 8PM Thurs game (only six points, but could cramp Pub time) or Fri game (nine points), but leaning toward the Thursday game. His Saturday night game's out because I have already played. Probably we won't all end up in the same game, obviously.

Thoughts?

Based upon our PM, I am re-evaluating what I want to do. I think I am good with Jeff's Thursday night game.

I have to check the schedule again though for the rest. I want to play in Jon's game, for sure.

I remember wanting to play in one of Paul's Chainmail games, too but I think that was Saturday night.

MAN, this is going to be groovy!!!!!

@ Ghul, WSmith, Chainsaw (PM) - thanks for the good words & thoughts, guys. The simple truth is that my dad is losing his struggle with cancer. Traditional treatments have become ineffective, so we have supplemented his base care with hospice help, and we're trying to spend as much time with him as we can. Never know when his number will be called!

Thanks for the votes of confidence, guys. I think the Barsoom games will be entertaining. Both of the above posted Barsoom scenarios were approved by GaryCon admin, so they are a "go" for this year's con.

I'm game to try and get into Jeff's Thursday night game with you guys. It's an 8:00 PM start, but that's sort of why I allowed for a later start for my games. Need my beauty rest...
