Like I've said elsewhere: the game (AD&D) is greater than the sum of the rules. The rules of 2nd edition and AD&D are essentially the same. There is a vast gulf between the quality of AD&D's presentation of the game and AD&D2's presentation of the game. Mechanically they might "be" the same. Stylistically, they are light years apart.
I prefer to live in the end of the gaming galaxy that is all AD&D, thanks.
