Yes, though not all of them:
DMG, p. 76 wrote: Evil creatures from lower planes such as minor demons, lesser devils, mezzodaemons, night hags, from 1-2 in number. (As a rule of thumb, any creature with armour class of −5 or better, 11 or more hit dice, or 66% or greater magic resistance will be unaffected.)

Crisis averted. The party ran away. (Probably the wisest move under the circumstances.) There was no demon turning. Well, that gives me some breathing room in which to work out some house-rules for this sort of situation. Thanks everybody for your input!

makes one glad that Gygax and crew built in to AD&D the assumption that DM's would tailor the rules to their individual games, don't it?
