-Sir Allen, K&K is made up of a bunch of guys who, for the most part, left DF because of the modding more then anything else (well, we floated around a bit before settling here).
I guess the change at DF happened after the original creator of DF (Mark) got sick and his brother took over (at which point 2Eers and 1E bashers got a foot hold, with the help of some of the mods). Seriously, ENworld treats 1E and OD&D better then DF (odd considering its advertising...but whatever.)

Thanks! That's the only one I posted because it was sheer carnage and mistakes and bourbon. Other than my Girls' Game, I feel that they would be boring to other people.

As if being a 'grognard' was a bad thing. I know what I like. I'm open minded too - a few months ago I tried a Welsh whiskey. It was lovely. I met the master distiller as well. It was then I discovered that a Welsh accent is slightly more understandable than a Martian one.

No kidding! If you get a chance, watch a BBC1 science fiction program called Torchwood. It's shot in Cardiff, and at times the dialogue is damned hard to understand.

Seems like there are a couple mods over on DF who use their position to say whatever they want and expect no retaliation. I've certainly seen much worse boards, though. Personally, I prefer no moderation except the removal of spam/porn. I suppose this is because I cut my teeth on Usenet and BBSes; the former taught me to make damn sure I could back up whatever I said and the latter that being a dick to the wrong people would result in a physical ass kicking.
As far as Zeb Cook goes...why are people afraid to admit they were wrong? It is VERY obvious that rangers in 2nd edition can use 2W fighting specifically because of Drriizizzzzzzt. Why is that even a question? 2nd edition had a much more to do with Forgotten Realms than Greyhawk. Is Cook simply saying that because he's trying to ignore all the crap that happened with Gygax? I don't get it.

Well, you basically have to ignore the evidence to come to that conclusion. On the one hand the game rules do not support Drizzt and on the other the game (re)designer has said Drizzt was not the driving factor. So, really, it is more a case of people clinging to a believable myth, rather than fear of admitting wrongdoing. When Drizzt does eventually turn up in second edition it is noticeable that he doesn't even need the ranger ability as he has a dexterity of 19 or 20 and two weapon fighting style specialisation. He still breaks the rules of the game in other ways, but that was par for the course.

YES sucks. RUSH I can deal with.
Seriously, I don't think YES is that bad either but I hate their staple songs on rock radio. RUSH on the other hand, I don't mind "TOM SAWYER", they have this late period where they tried to get all "new wavy" thats kind of weird. However "one zero zero" isn't bad. The "Bytor" one and other fantasy element-oriented ones are fun to say the least. However, its hard to mix it up at home (wife hates them) and at the game (everybody pretty much would rather listen to PURPLE RAIN first over RUSH["AT LEAST ITS MADE IN THE USA!" ])
I'd say ZEP is always great for rock with a wee pinch of phanntasee however there are still naysayers for that shit too.
The safest bet is murmuring WAGNER in the background "uber alles".

I don't like Geddy Lee's nasally voice and I don't like the lyrics that seem to strive too hard for profundity (especially the Ayn Rand-influenced ones). Add to that, the aforementioned really fucking annoying college roommate who used to listen to them incessantly and go on and on about how genius they were, which created a really bad association. If I gave them another chance I could probably learn to like at least some of their stuff -- the same way it look me awhile to grok The Who and The Kinks and Genesis and Pink Floyd and Radiohead and a few others -- but at least up to now I've never been willing to give them that chance, not least because I've got plenty of other music to listen to that I know I like without having to work at it (I've actually declared Zero Population Growth for my music collection because I've run out of room -- at least theoretically for every new thing I buy I try to get rid of something old that I no longer like, or at least no longer listen to).
