I think for the good of this site (and keeping good guys like Joe B around) I'm going to drop out of this discussion (as much as I enjoy reading what you guys have to say). I suppose politics doesn't effect me on such a personal level.

Don't go. :( You know we'd all miss you! Even more than political discussions on a non-political-discussion board!

I don't think this is the time for anyone to drop out of this thread but rather its the time to put this thread to bed and maybe we all need to take a step back from these political threads and get back to talking about gaming. As the old adage goes we just need to "agree to disagree" and leave it at that, I think this thread has shown that no one is changing sides but rather it is polarizing people and straining our relations with one another. So I say to anyone planning on leaving, please don't. To all of us I say enough political melee, lets roll some dice.
I want to hear what you did in the dungeon, not the voting booth. Politics and rules minutia both bore me in my opinion.

Stonegiant is correct that noone should leave the site based on a political thread.

Saying that, this site has always been great becuase discussions are civil and rarely degenerate into drivel.

I hope the mods keep the place as is. I have never understood people that read a thread that makes them so angry they feel the need to leave. Why not just skip the thread? Why not respond in a rational way and if no minds are changed---so what?

I think were pretty much all friends here. Friends can disagree.

jb---this is, as you know, an Old School gaming board. It would be bad to lose you as I think most like to hear your thoughts on the publishing side of things (I know I do).

Axe and I have talked privately. I'll be sticking around. I'll also be avoiding any political threads, regardless what I think about the subject. Healthcare is something that hits very close to home for me, so I'm probably a bit more touchy than normal.

My apologies for the drama. I do try to avoid it, but sometimes it seems to happen anyway.

Uh-huh... know what? About 12 miles up the highway from my house is a county hospital so poorly run and staffed that people joke it's a good place to die. It's a model of medical efficiency compared to the one described in that article.

There's no freaking sense in a hospital like that even existing in a supposedly civilized nation in the 21st. Not saying something like that can't happen in the US... just sayin'...

Well James, you are in Arkansas. ;)

Actually, was not making a point one way or the other, just sharing an article I thought that folks on this thread would find interesting.

Agreed, a hospital like that should not exist anywhere but from what I am seeing as time goes on is that civilization in the 21st century does not mean a whole hell of a lot. Bad stuff still abounds, it just happens faster.

You know the interesting thing is: yeah, that one is 12 miles one way... but 15 miles the other way is a superb hospital with a sterling reputation.

So, no... I don't think being in Arkansas has anything to do with it... I think it's more that Dallas County and Fordyce is run by a syndicate of robber barons, drooling morons, and assorted other unsavory characters.

Huh. Yeah, I'd choose the good one, then. :D
