What is WITH Villains?

What is WITH Villains?

Post by JamesEightBitStar »

So recently I was watching Mazinkaiser (if you're familiar with a cartoon called "Tranzor Z", Mazinkaiser is a sort-of sequel to that), a show in which the nefarious Dr. Hell and his sidekick, a half-man half-woman named Baron Ashura, attempt to conquer the world. The only thing standing in their way is a young man and his giant robot.

Now, in one episode, Dr. Hell is upset that Ashura failed, AGAIN, and goes on to ramble about taking over the world. Hell compares himself to Napoleon and Hitler...

... It's at this point that I just want to say to the guy "You know what the problem is with that analogy? Hitler and Napoleon actually got out and fought battles. You're just sitting there playing your piano while your pet she-man does all the work! And while we're at it, Hitler and Napoleon didn't depend on a small army of seven big robots nor did they constantly attack the same place again and again! Frankly Dr. Hell, you're quite a half-assed world conquerer."

Seriously, what's with all these wanna-conquer-the-world villains? They talk about big plans but then use the stupidest ideas again and again--ideas that wouldn't possibly work even IF there wasn't a hero or two wandering around, ready to beat them to a pulp.

And why would you want to conquer the world anyway? What would you do with the world once you DID conquer it? [Personally, I would divide it up into territories, keep one for myself, then auction off the rest for huge profit... whoa, that's actually not a bad idea...]

I've also got to wonder.... These mad scientists keep losing, and having to repair their robots... so... where do they get the money? Do they have stocks in the Coca-Cola company?

What's your thoughts on this?

There are no dumb villains. There are only...lazy writers.

Well, if TV writers knew how to conquer the World they should be doing it, not writing for TV.

That's easy: you ban religion and put half the world to do research physics for you.
