I like REH (Wow!), but what I would really like to add to this thread is how HPL liked to just close out a story with a sentence about going insane...madness! In truth, it is very DnD as we have all fallen in the pit if not a million times, and started a re-roll. So is REH the popular choice with HPL probably closer to reality?

Madness!

I think the entirety of Clark Ashton Smith's works are in the public domain now. You can find them in all the regular places for that sort of thing. Archive.org, Gutenberg, etc. I believe there's a robust fan site as well but I think those versions are in HTML.
The DUNGEON MASTERS GUIDE City of Brass cover is good and bad at the same time. While its very representational of a high level adventure, it sends a clear message to the dumb: Satan is going to cornhole Miss USA with a big red member and theres nothing science or the military can do about it. - Gene Weigel

Yes, Eldritch Dark is the main host for CAS writings: http://eldritchdark.com/

I haven't seen many free epub omnibus editions of his works yet---just two early poetry collections @ http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/search/ ... n+smith%22

HPL is available @ http://hplovecraft.com/ and via Gutenberg @ http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/search/ ... +lovecraft

I'm not aware of a top REH writings site, and he's pretty sparse on Gutenberg too (but it does include most of his Conan stories, it looks like): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/author/36031

Night Shade Books has collected CAS' fantasies in five volumes. What I like about them is that the stories are presented in the order they were written*, and not the order of publication.
