D&D pencil art

Post by Melan »

This Flickr collection is apparently from somebody's early 1980s D&D campaign. If you like this kind of stuff (I do), you will love the collection.

I love how it looks like they played Star Frontiers once. Like probably a lot of people did.

The DUNGEON MASTERS GUIDE City of Brass cover is good and bad at the same time. While its very representational of a high level adventure, it sends a clear message to the dumb: Satan is going to cornhole Miss USA with a big red member and theres nothing science or the military can do about it. - Gene Weigel

As well as X3: The Curse of Xanathon and B4: The Lost City. Does anyone see any other drawings obviously tied to a particular module?

It's more interesting than some of the fantasy art I see out today. 8)

Ah, the days before spikey armour and obscenely ginormous swords with Freudian overtones.

Right? Weapons were the extension of the character; not the character.

My sword is not a penis substitute! My sword is, however, significantly larger than your sword.

These are fantastic! Maybe not so much in terms of artistic skill but certainly in terms of communication and implication.

Someone was clearly having a better time in junior high than I was (not a D&D player to be found, alas).

There's a dwarf in a few of them that seems to be Warhammer Trollhunter inspired.
