Re: NTRPG Con XI (2019)
I'm still looking for a Saturday night game.
What do y'all know about Bill Barsh running some version of Palace of the Vampire Queen? Would y'all recommend?
I'm hoping that luck will allow be to get into either Allen Hammack's Ghost Tower of Inverness or Jared "Illusionist" Nielsen's the Bone Cenote.

Two weeks away! I'm super pumped, but I also keep wondering...
Who will survive and what will be left of them?

For those of you who haven't heard;

More details on Facebook from Badmike. So sad.Mike Cary passed away at his mother's house Tuesday. This was totally unexpected in every way, he was only 48 years old and in good health. The medical examiner is doing an autopsy but they suspect natural causes. As many of you know who attend NTRPG Con, Mike was a huge part of our convention.
Truth is worth finding and life is too short to work for money.

If the NSA happens to crawl this website, then you are so fucked when you get to the airport. Then instead of conventions, you can attend the Prison Dance.Welleran wrote:“All I know is I finally get to kill somebody.”

ETA: Did we ever make any decisions about the Social?
We have it up, as a social event in a board room.
I will offer a beer and pretzels game of original edition using the convention version of my house rules.
We will hang out. Drink. Socialize. And, for those in my game, perhaps y’all will kill a few monsters and grab a few treasures before your characters die.
(Let me know if you are interested in a brief description of what I’ve got ready for you to play over beer and pretzels.)

Re: NTRPG Con XI (2019)
I'll be there again this year, but a shorter trip --- Fri mid-day until Sun morning --- which means that I'll unfortunately miss the social this time. Due to uncertainty in my actual attendance I didn't sign up to run a game.
Games I'm signed up to play in:
Fri 2-5: Castle Greyhawk Level by Rob Kuntz, OD&D game run by Paul Stormberg. Grodog is also playing in this.
Fri 8-12: Zenopus - 40 years later. This is another gamer's sequel to the Zenopus dungeon & he invited me to play in it. This is his second year running it. tacojohn is also playing in this.
Sat 9-1: The Queen of Elfland's Son: DCC game run by Jonathan Perkel, who started the Holmes FB group & played Boinger in my game last year.
Sat 1-6: 80's Heroes vs Monsters Costume Party Chaos. Non-D&D RPG game run by...Chris Holmes! DM Carl of Save or Die is playing in this as well. He's another Holmes afficianado who runs a cool Discos & Dragons game (a hexcrawl on the Outdoor Survival board using on rules and minis from the '70s).
Sat 6-10: Ruins of Mistamere run by Lloyd Metcalf. A sequel/re-imagining of the Sample Dungeon from the Mentzer Basic Set, but using AD&D 1e rules.

I'm pumped too! This is one of the highlights of my year. For those of you who have never been, or even for those who have, here's some tips and reminders.
First, remember that there are lots of special guests who have contributed to the role-playing library of materials, and most of them are very willing to sign stuff for you. I'm personally not big on signatures, but some people are, so bring stuff to be signed if you like.
Second, there's not a lot of places to eat around the hotel, and the hotel fare has had positive and negative reviews. There will be a food truck there several days this year, so that should add a little variety. However, if you plan on buying all your food on-site, your food bill can be substantial. Therefore, consider bringing some food with you. I personally bring several MRE's, some granola bars, a few oranges, and things like that. You can save significantly, even if you do this for a few meals.
Third, a couple of people had some things stolen last year, and the staff is taking some additional measures to see that doesn't happen this year. Still, don't make it easy on thieves by leaving your stuff all over the place and/or unattended. Someone had his bag stolen and then abandoned after being rifled through. We suspect it was because the bag looked like a laptop bag. Consider carrying your stuff in something that does not look like it holds a laptop.
Fourth, I am also bringing a sturdy box and some magazine bags to hold all the goodies I purchase from the convention to make their transportation back home a little more secure/safe.
Fifth, I don't know what it's going to be like this year, but last year some of the rooms were a little chilly. I had a long-sleeve t-shirt which came in handy during a few games.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone!
