Two K&KA DMs each half-day slot (say 10 AM to 5PM and then 5 PM to midnight) so if you had 4 K&KA DMs total per day, 8-10 players per slot, you have a K&KACON with a more useful 6 hours or so of play in a session, counting meal and other breaks.

I can dig it. And, without "special guests" and "celebrities" it shouldn't be too expensive: lots of gaming bang for the buck.EOTB wrote:Two K&KA DMs each half-day slot (say 10 AM to 5PM and then 5 PM to midnight) so if you had 4 K&KA DMs total per day, 8-10 players per slot, you have a K&KACON with a more useful 6 hours or so of play in a session, counting meal and other breaks.

Some leg work was done on this kind of thing last year:

Unfortunately scuttled by the hurricane and other considerations.

Having our event on Wednesday night would likely make the size of the group slightly smaller, which, for gaming purposes be better, but for social purposes, be worse.grodog wrote:The only other suggestion I can make would be to consider moving it to Wednesday, since many people are coming in earlier now, and see if that works to draw sufficient critical mass while freeing up the Thursday night slot.
Allan.
Has anyone proposed two events? Maybe an adventure night on Wednesday, for example, and then a social night on Thursday? I guess, in a sense, we do that already as many folks within K&K run their own adventure that many of us choose to join. The only difference in what I am suggesting is that we'd have two official events. I can't say, even though I am mentioning it, that I really like that idea. The reality is that we're like cats being herded which is a beautiful thing. Freedom!

Yes, Jimm, this is a good idea.austinjimm wrote:What about a K&KA *Social* on Wed. Night & a K&KA *Game* on Thurs.?
I plan to be there from Wed next year, so I could hang out and talk with folks Wed pm, and then we could play a game together Thu pm.
If that worked for others, that may be the best of both worlds.

What are the chances we could retry something like this?austinjimm wrote:Some leg work was done on this kind of thing last year:

The first weekend of Dec is the 6 month marker of NTRPGCon. What if we tried to make something happen then?
I spend a lot of time at Camp Allen near Navasota. This would be closer to folks in Houston, which may not be a bad thing. They have some nice cabins on a lake we could rent: http://campallen.org/lodging . We could divide up cost by bed. If someone wanted a room to themselves, they could just buy up all the beds in that room. Fish or shoot skeet in the morning. Game in the afternoon and evening.
I also work at a school in Austin with lots of room available and in-house lodging available. 3 or 4 rooms I believe (I'd have to research to get the exact number).
Anyway, I'd like to see folks and game together more than just once a year, if possible.

Special guests never appealed to me because they interrupted game events. They never lure me to cons. I just wanted to join AD&D games and hit Allan's booth for stuff. I used to stop by Proctor's booth but he fell off the face of the planet.
Re: Who puts the K&K Social on the NTX schedule?
The K&KA Social should be part of the con, so moving it to Wednesday night puts it out of the scope. Since it's the K&KA Social, and not the K&KA Game, I favor the drop in/drop out/drop back in/whatever vibe of the original event. I can play serious games all weekend long; the Social is (was?) a unique event. Why make it just another generic con game event? There's dozens of those.
If there's a K&KA Con, would that make an NTRPG K&KA Social (vs K&KA Game) more palatable?

I'm definitely interested.tetramorph wrote:Cool.Ratbreath wrote:This time and place would be convenient for me.

We should start a new thread though so that it comes to the attention of all the Texans who might be interested. (It's kind of buried in this NTRPG Social thread.)
