They can get over a thousand pounds. Nature is metal.
The DUNGEON MASTERS GUIDE City of Brass cover is good and bad at the same time. While its very representational of a high level adventure, it sends a clear message to the dumb: Satan is going to cornhole Miss USA with a big red member and theres nothing science or the military can do about it. - Gene Weigel

Then we'll need bigger bread! It's Spinal Tap all over again.

That big guy is probably descended from domestic hogs. Most feral pigs that size are.

Definitely. We have a problem with them in Texas. There's no bag limit.

That's what I was thinking, too. I've wanted to try it ever since someone linked to this article.

Keeping all those deer rifles in use in the off season...

In Texas, if you're a landowner or a landowner's agent you can take feral hogs that are causing damage to the property without a hunting license. If you're hunting feral hog for food or trophy, or you're trapping (which could affect other animals), the state requires a hunting license. You can hunt them 24 hours a day, and can even use silencers and nightvision and spotlighting. And as you note, there is no closed season on feral hogs and no bag limit. I've hunted feral hog (on private property), but I've never seen one that large.

You can also get a permit to hunt them from a helicopter.

With a mini-gun.

At night.

(i find this excessive. but, also - fuck, yeah!)

I have a friend who has hunted hog from a helicopter. Not my thing: I want to be out in the woods and fields, not up in a helicopter. But I get that the landowners who allow helicopter hunting on their property are looking to control a problem.

This is him (Angel Padilla):

Yeah not my bag either. I'd never hit anything under those conditions.

That video may be the most American thing I have seen. Looks fun, too.

Yeah. Plus I either use a bolt-action .270 Winchester or my .50 breech-loading black powder rifle, neither of which are well-suited for a helicopter hunt.
