Thank you for everyone's input and suggestions. I've decided to give him a PH/DMG/MM, along with a set of dice. Original covers. I honestly didn't want to encourage him to game, but he associates D&D with me and maybe he and I can have a campaign online when he's not here.

Got him Talisman as well and look forward to playing that with him as well.
