I had a blast at NTRPG.

My biggest regret is not going to the K&K Social. I went the year before, but skipped out for a B/X game this year. Dumb dumb dumb.

I did get to play in several great games. I was the last man standing in Jim Ward's 46 minute TPK (page 3 of this thread). Grey shirt, sitting back.

I was also sitting next to capitalbill in Steve's Swords & Six-Siders game. Had I only been at the social, I'd have gotten all the jokes. Still. Big Poppa's medusa-lovin' player will be around here more often and I hope to run something next year.

I'm also super bummed I didn't get Jimm's Planet Eris Book 2 to compliment my Book 1. I've had that thing at my desk for the last year here at work and read through it pretty regularly when I'm bored while waiting for a meeting to start or my code to compile.

Doesn't that book just make you want to drop what you are doing, grab your dice, and start playing?

Looks like a great time!

The NTRPGCon falls right at the end of my and my kid's close of school year. I do hope to make it again, and even regularly, but the timing is tough for me. Anybody know the next dates?

Oh, and it was great to put names to handles and finally meet a lot of you: Flambeau, CapitalBill, Welleran, Steve, Balrog(?), and others whose handles escape me right now.

Fight on!
Next year at the new place (Westin) it will be June 1-4, but it's always the first Thursday in June so I think the two years after that it will be the 2nd weekend in June. I know it sucks for those who have to go to graduations, but we run into trouble any date in June it seems like (with Origins also in June now).

Doug already set up a room block at the Westin in case anyone wants to make a reservation now. Already reserved my room (arriving Weds afternoon, leaving Sunday morning).

Thanks for the update. My room's reserved for 2017. Sorry, but all y'all are gonna have to put up with me again.

I'm getting errors when I try to book a reservation. Anyone recall what the rate is?

From my confirmation e-mail, based on a double:

Room Rate Per Room / Per Night USD 108.00
State: 6.00 % Per Room / Per Night USD 6.48
City: 9.00 % Per Room / Per Night USD 9.72
Estimated Total: USD 124.20

Thanks. That's reasonable. Not sure, this far in advance, if I can make it but I'm going to assume the close.

I had a great time at this, my first ever multi-day con! I arrived Friday morning with only a few hours of sleep, and the first two days are a blur of excellent games. Sunday was slower but it seemed a lot of folks had left.

I played in 5 games, and participated in the Holmes Panel with Chris Holmes and grodog. The panel was a lot of fun though we had technical difficulties recording it, but I believe at least some audio and/or video was saved.

My Friday night game was grodog's high-level Castle Greyhawk Enchanted Orchards. My friend Scott, who traveled to the con with me, and I each played MUs. I met a few K&KA members in this game; Nik was sitting by me, and Welleran next to him. From other reports here I believe EOTB was also, and perhaps others too. And I met tacojohn at the Black Blade booth.

My other games were the Misty Isles of Eld with Chris Kutalik, where I played a short-live wereshark, an EPT "Death on the Nile" type murder-mystery with Victor Raymond (a long-time player in M.A.R. Barker's campaign), a high level BECMI game with Frank Mentzer, and a Gamma World 1E with Steve Winter. Each very different and each enjoyable.

Also finally met Badmike after a decade-plus of Acaeum posting!

I'm sorry I didn't meet more of you. Hopefully next year.

Had a great time this year at NTRPG as usual.

Really enjoyed chainsaw's Saturday Night Crystal Point (AS&SH) game. Even though I showed up late and got last pick of characters, I ended up a Legerdemainist which is one of the AS&SH classes I've really been itching to play. We had a great group of players and ended up finding an unguarded backdoor to a level with some great treasure (and horrific creatures guarding it!). I'm a big fan of the aesthetic of AS&SH and its literary influences and chainsaw's module felt like it would fit perfectly into any Hyberborean campaign.

Thanks for the kind words, charlie. Glad you had fun! And welcome to K&KA.
