Recently watched Michael Wood's In Search of the Trojan War and a video tour of Greece and Turkey.
Currently watching The Joy of Mathematics and planning to follow that with a video series on the Greco-Persian wars.
Finally got to see The Big Short and Spectre. Loved TBS. Spectre was enjoyable for what it was. I think I'm good on major release movies until Zoolander2 hits video.

I'm catching up on Last Ship finally. Normally, a Navy show would drive me nuts with its inaccuracies, but I really like this one! It's got a good, post-apocalyptic vibe while retaining a good flavor. Plus, it's clearly filmed aboard a real warship, and the Hollyweirdisms are minimal. (Bonus points for depicting Maryland as the epicenter of a Nazi-style freak show of burning people...anyone from Virginia would agree that is the most likely state for such a thing).

Did Dracula and Frankenstein over the weekend. The B&W 1931 versions. I've seen Frankenstein a bunch, but I think that was only the second time I've seen Dracula. That's a really underrated movie, in my view. A lot of great characters, and the rubber bat is really the only special effect that looks bad to the modern eye. As good as Nosferatu? No, probably not - Nosferatu's camera work, effects, and makeup are all better, and the villain is more menacing and evil. Instead of having a character pointing off screen yelling, "Look! there goes a wolf!" it shows you actual footage of a wolf. But the 1931 Dracula gets bonus points for having a great Van Helsing, a great Renfield, and Lucy rising from the grave and kidnapping/killing children.
I'm still picking through my silent era films (the 1920 John Barrimore version of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde and Fritz Lang's Destiny are next on my cue - I'm quickly coming to the conclusion that Fritz Lang never made a bad movie), but I'm also starting in on my 1930s list. Here are the movies on my 1930s list so far:
