Devil Illusion Spell-Like power

Post by jgbrowning »

Has this ability ever been defined in the rules, or is it interpretive?

OSRIC has it as phantasmal force.

I would also say spectral force - an illusion with all sensory components. I believe that was the intent of 1E.

Its the DMs call if its not spelled out. That said, we've always made it all senses are effected as well.

Thanks all! So it looks like it's never been elucidated further in any source. I went and looked at my OD&D stuff (which was the generation before me so I've never played) and it looks like there weren't any devils in OD&D (only demons) so I couldn't find any guidance there either.

My instinctive call is to make it the same as a Wand of Illusion (i.e. combined Phantasmal Force and Audible Glamer, but no smell or thermal component as you get with Spectral Force).

Ooooh... I like this one. :-) I'll have to use it in my game.

I *really* wish there was an official source (perhaps I should look through all my Dragon Mags), but oh well..

There may have been a cite to this on DF; the djinni create illusion ability in the MM is listed as audio/visual, as T. Foster surmised.

Great find! I thought I searched over at DF, but apparently I missed that thread.

IMO, that looks pretty persuasive and it'll be the one I go with.

Thanks all!
