Wall of Fog

Post by Mudguard »

This spell prevents creatures within its A.O.E. from seeing more than 2' in front of their noses. I assume it will prevent opponents making effective use of missile weapons, or targeted spells. Would you penalize creatures in melee with the spell-caster?

It would depend on weapon length. If a character is using a dagger and comes across the magic-user, then I suggest no penalty. Of course, hth combat would suffer no penalty either.

Mmmmm......let's see. Per the book, melee distance is 10' in AD&D.

So, I'd say whenever combatants came within 10' of each other within the wall of fog, they'd treat each other as being invisible for purposes of melee combat. I suppose if I needed to determine if they were within 2' of each other, I'd simply roll a d10 for encounter distance.
