Due to the amount of phony accounts being registered on a daily basis, we're changing the procedure for new user registration. Please follow these steps to register a new account:
1) Register in the normal way.
2) Go to the "Account approval thread" in the "Forum and Website Helpline" forum, found here: http://knights-n-knaves.com/phpbb3/view ... =31&t=8335
3) Using a guest name (different from the one you registered), reply to the thread stating the username you registered and a short blurb about how you found the site. If you don't use a guest name to make this post, you will get a "username taken" message.
4) We'll then approve your account, and you will get the standard phpbb activation e-mail.
I'm doing this because we are getting buried with spam accounts, and I've been deleting them in huge chunks. I'm afraid that I'm deleting accounts of legit gamers who want to come here and post, and I certainly don't want to be doing so. Hopefully this will alleviate the issue and make it easier for me to admin the board.
Whenever I check pending accounts, I'm going to delete any account with a creation date time more than 1 hour old, which does not have a matching post in the approval thread.
