Never understood why weasels got this blood draining power (1-12 drain after initial bite). Any idea if they do this IRL somehow. I thought they just did the standard rip you apart method of killing.

From wiki: It is thought that the name "weasel" comes from the Anglo-Saxon root "weatsop" meaning "a vicious bloodthirsty animal".

Perhaps Gygax read that and thought it might be cool to make it literally "blood thirsty"?

Or he just did it to give his players fits. I wouldn't try reading too much real world logic into some of Gary's motivations.
