I am going to use the ultimate big fat baddy, Orcus, in a halloween adventure & was thinking...

OD&D Demogorgon has 10 HD using d20's...and in 1e he has 200 HP
OD&D Orcus has 12 HD using d12's..but only 120 HP in 1e. (I always wondered why his lightning bolt was 12 dice)

I am going to change his HP to 144. Thoughts?

Seems reasonable. Can't imagine it's really likely to make a difference, though :)

What TF wrote. O's hp should be the least of the PCs worries.

No need to make the change. this seems quire reasonable.

Demogorgon gets 100 hp/head. Orcus gets 40 hp/leg.

Miss USA beware!

One of the interesting things in Apendix E in the DMG is it gives THAC0s for all of the monsters. Both Demogorgon and Orcus have a base THAC0 of 7, which is 16+ HD.
The MM has that transitional vibe about it, so I think it's fair game for tweaking.
