The Amount of Wealth for Characters

I remember in the MM and DMG percentages for finding magic items among NPC parties and the like, but like I said, I don't think there are 3e-style wealth rules in AD&D.

Yup, in the DMG, there are three slightly different treatment of what magic items a NPC (or party has). But nothing on wealth.

Yep, nothing by the book. Gonna have to roll your own.

There seems to be no BTB method for what you seek, so you should ignore any smartass responses and just make up a method that gives a reasonable estimate.

(Just to throw one out, try rolling for starting gold and then adding twice the previous amount for each level gained. That seems to produce nice enough numbers, with a range of both poor and rich.)
