I am about to run an AD&D1e module from 1984. One of the pregenerated characters has as a magical item a "Sword +1 (NSA)"
What does the "NSA" stand for? Is it an acronym for some special ability of the weapon? I looked at the module's glossary and there is no entry for it. Other PCs have other magical weapons (including other blades) but there are no acronyms in parenthesis for any of them.
Hope the veterans around here can shed some light on this. Any aid is thanked in advance.
Sword +1 (NSA) ?

Where ya gonna be when the hammer comes down?
Can you outshoot the Devil? Outrun his hounds?
Ain't nothing to it but to stay above ground.

Re: Sword +1 (NSA) ?
Definitely this. Funny how they had to note when a sword had no special abilities instead of assuming that's the case.Chainsaw wrote:Guess: No Special Abilities?

I'm guessing the "unfinished" nature of many old school adventures prompted rolls for intelligence, alignment, ect, at some tables.
I used the term a fair bit BITD

You know, I guess you are probably right. AD&D1e magical swords are all supposed to shine light, right? I guess this one just has the mechanical modifiers To Hit and Damage and that is it.Chainsaw wrote:Guess: No Special Abilities?

I would have have considered that "NSA" swords still luminesce therefore I took the notation to mean that you don't need to roll for ego etc, i.e. DM's work is done. It's really neither here nor there however, right?
