Brief question: statting out a thieves' guild

Post by thedungeondelver »

I'm thinking treasure type A, with J,K,L,M for the individuals. Of course that Type A stash is well hidden and trapped.

Sounds good to me, Bill: Bandits are M, with A in lair.

You know, yeah, you're right.

'course this is a small guild located in...ah, but that would give the surprise away :)

So naturally I'll divide the treasure quite a bit as it's a smaller number of thieves.

Be sure to put more than just thieves in there. Guilds surely need more than just footpads. Lots of iron-clad muscle might be required for some guild work, along with a few Magic-Users and a Cleric or two. Surely there's a God of Thieves in your campaign? :-)

Those Magic-Users might even have a charmed monster or two - oh my! A guild could have quite a few uses for certain charmed monsters...

While reading North's post all I could think is "Baboons. All thieves' guilds need violent trained baboons."

There's a section on guilds in CDD4 you might be interested in - paired with the Bandit & Treasure hoards it should give a good variety of members and their treasure.

I think it depends quite a bit on the size & location of the guild, as well as the levels of the members. A isn't a bad general placeholder, although bandits are likely a tougher encounter most of the time & have less opportunity to spend their coin in the wilderness.

EDIT: I see that's been taken into account
