Hi all,
My group wants to take a spin at by-the-book AD&D combat including weapon speeds, castIng times, etc, etc. It has been many moons since I've done this myself.
Can anyone recommend a real lucid introduction to this somewhere in pdf or the interwebs that I could pass along?
Thank you.
AD&D Combat Mechanics
Re: AD&D Combat Mechanics
There is PDF called "A.D.D.I.C.T." floating around that reads like a scholarly analysis of AD&D1e combat complete with bibliographical notes worthy of an academic essay.
I only read a couple of pages (initiative/surprise), so I do not know if it delves into all the facets of AD&D combat you mentioned. But it might be worth checking out.

There are about half a dozen interpretations of how it works, but you might find this link useful: [AD&D] Surprise & Initiative.
