Multi-classed gnome assassins
Not found in the PHB, but the DMG gives the option of gnome assassin/fighters and assassin/illusionists as followers of high level assassins. Anyone ever have a gnome multi-classed assassin PC or NPC?

No - but I'm not 100% sure if I haven't played a Kobold Fighter/Assassin as per Hey, Wanna be a Kobold? in Dragon #141.

Yes, I've had Assassin/Illusionist characters played, back in the days when the UA was added to AD&D. I'd have them as NPC's only these days, unless I was in a mood for variants (no UA for me anymore!).
Assassin/Illusionist is a potent combo.
Assassin/Fighter is good too, but there are other races that are chosen instead, even BITD. These days they are half orcs (PH only), unless NPC's.
