Astonishing Swordsmen & Sorcerers of Hyperborea
Re: Astonishing Swordsmen & Sorcerers of Hyperborea
Apparently the art has begun to ship - mine was well-packed and undamaged. Thanks!

Where ya gonna be when the hammer comes down?
Can you outshoot the Devil? Outrun his hounds?
Ain't nothing to it but to stay above ground.

Re: Astonishing Swordsmen & Sorcerers of Hyperborea
I think they're pretty cool - Ian Baggley's one of my favorite artists. I had the piece on the left commissioned separately late last year or early this year, but it was ultimately included in the final product. The one on the right was a pledge package perk. Cleric's my favorite class, so that worked out well.
This is the only Kickstarter project I've supported thus far and, honestly, that support was more than a little motivated by knowing Ghul and Ian from conventions and the forums. I probably would have been unlikely to pledge if I hadn't enjoyed meeting and gaming with them. Coincidentally, I was also deep into re-reading REH, CAS and HPL right as this project came into development, so I was primed to be a supporter.

I definitely like the changes to the hydra pic, and can't wait for the game to arrive---as much to ogle the rest of Ian's art as to delve into Jeff's vision for the CAS/HPL/REH mash-up setting.

A realization just struck me: I'm looking forward to seeing AS&SH moreso than I am the AD&D reprints!
That cleric is pretty dark---has a very strong Pholtus vibe going: he's an inquisitional battle cleric, not your "here, let me support your front line from the second row while they do all the heavy-lifting in combat" typeChainsaw wrote:I think they're pretty cool - Ian Baggley's one of my favorite artists. Hear hear! This expresses my sentiment as well.
While I'm mildly happy that WotC is reprinting the core AD&D hardbacks - and I've ordered a set to show my appreciation - I'm really, really anxious to get a look at the AS&SH boxed set, of which I've ordered _several_ copies.

I honestly can't imagine you guys being disappointed. AS&SH is awesome.
And yeah, I'm totally giddy with anticipation, waiting for the game to be shipped.

Have to agree. The beard is a dead give-away.

Well.. the cleric in the art above appears to have some sort of polearm that has a stabbing end, so I was curious. Sometimes I lean toward allowing clerics to use edged weapons myself...tacojohn4547 wrote:What the hell kind of question is this, Chainsaw?Chainsaw wrote:Ghul.. can clerics used edged weapons in AS&SH?
