If you registered for Victor's game, I'm sure you'll have a good time, and get a good flavor for the EPT setting too.
Agreed. It's a game I have absolutely no interest in but listening to Victor explain it to some walk-ups at last year's convention almost convinced me to sit down and play.

Moderator: Ben Burns (BenTheRat)
Game Title: Olympus Pwned
Game System : AD&D 1ed
Number of players : 4-8
Pregens/Level of characters : 16th level Pregens provided, or bring your own/ 12-20 (Neutral or Evil only)
World/Setting : Mount Olympus
Game Info: The gods have left Mount Olympus for a task only they can deal with. This only happens once a Millennium and Hades is not going to let this opportunity slip him by. You have been hired to be his heroes to open the gates for him so that he may lay claim to be king of Olympus. But just because the gods have left Olympus, does not mean that it is abandoned. Time to dust off that old high level evil character and give him a challenge like none he has ever had before.
Ben has been running games here a few years, he's done some smaller independent publications (Blackridge Island series). His games are usually pretty fun from what I've seen, and I know his Paranoia game last year got rave reviews. This sounds pretty epic, and knowing Ben there will be some humor involved, I'm sure.

Well the server was overloaded for about 10 minutes, but we got it up and running (we, well, I mean Doug of course). Then I looked at my B1 game and noticed it had 12 people registered (when the cut off was eight), and soon Erol Otus game had he same problem (yep, that's right, my game filled up before EO's game, BITCHES). It turned out using the "checkout cart" allowed people to sign up for games that were full, since the game was in their cart. So Doug had to shut down the carts and boot people out of my game (luckily all four had played my B1 game last year, although it's different every year due to the different scenarios you can choose) and Erols. Besides these two glitches, everything went as planned. We had a great time talking and joking in the chat rooms until about 3 am. Glad to see Allan make it as we weren't sure that a tornado hadn't picked up his house and deposited it Oz-style on a witch somewhere! Anyway, it was great fun, and there are plenty of good slots available if you haven't bothered to make your way to the site yet.

And I'm one of the lucky ones who got in, and stayed in, Badmike's B1 game
Definitely going to want to drop in on the K&K room during breaks, though--this crowd is too amusing to miss.

I played in a relatively quick session (TPK) at GaryCon that was fun.

Thanks for the compliment, Chris

The K&K social will be right across the hall in the other Hospitality Suite. We'll take a break at midpoint to go across and steal some of their beer (If they haven't pounded it all down by 9 pm).

I'll be passing again this year, but I want to see the rest of you make this another resounding success, because I have every intention of attending in '13.
While ya'll are RPGing in Tejas, on the same weekend, I'll be FoGing, among sundry other wargames, at
Bayou Wars. Card and fantasy games make up maybe about 10% of the con. It's fairly hardcore true grognard.
Anyway, I'll probably pass some time in the hotel bar in solidarity with you mooks at NTRPG.

I'd like to test something like this out sometime. You pretty much already have to know what you're doing? What about bringing equipment? Can a novice just show up and get some action?

Totally noob friendly. While there's some actual tournamenting going on (where the hardcores play year-round for points) there are more open games for everyone else. Don't bring anything but yourself.

I'm hoping by the time they are blowing 3.0 on the breathalyzer, some of the bottles may have sunk to the bottom of the ice chest or rolled under a sofa and escaped notice.

If you want to run an old school RPG at NTRPG con, there are still plenty of spots and tables available. Check out the game grid on the NTRPG con site for times, and dust off those old game notes, give it a go. You have to submit the particulars to me for approval, but if you are a old schooler who has run games before and the games are classic RPGs, you almost have a slam dunk for getting your game on the schedule. Particularly looking for OD&D and AD&D games to fill slots.
Just a note, I told Doug at the beginning of the month I thought we would break out attendance record of last year by having at least one new registration for each day of April and May (61 total). We are already at 36! Thanks to everyone out there checking out our little old school con, I think we'll be able to pull another 25 before the end of May. I'm counting on walk up to get us up over 150 for the con.
Another reminder, game sign up runs until May 15th (when we have to start having the program and attendee packets printed up). Don't wait too long to get your games, it may not be available as a walk up.

Once again this year the NTRPG con will hold a charity game, with the proceeds going to a very worthy children's charity (Variety Texas). Last year we raised several hundred dollars for special needs kids, and we are going to do the same this year. The game will be Thursday from 2 to 6 pm, observers are welcome for a small fee!
We've changed the bidding up a bit this year. In 2012, there will be more spaces available (five), some of them during the game itself. There will be one seat available during the entire game by being the high bidder on RPG Marketplace (link below), the high bidder getting a seat at the table with our all-star cast of players (Frank Mentzer, Jim Ward, Tim Kask, Jennell Jaquays, Steve Winter, and Sandy Petersen). Doug will be DMing. He's not a killer DM at all. But you may lose a few fingers, an eye, a couple toes, etc. Should be fun. The game will be 1E with some house rules mixed in, but still old school all the way.
There will be 2 seats available for attendees. 1 to be auctioned off at RPGMarketplace.com between 04/15/12-05/15/12, the other will be raffled every hour during the game (so four people will get to play this seat). Raffle tickets will be sold up until each drawing, must be in attendance to win. Observers will pay $2.00 to watch the game, those in on the raffle will pay $10.00 per ticket.
You must be an attendee to win this
Drawings will be held during the charity game every hour so 4 players will get to play.
Once a ticket is drawn, it will not be put back in the "hat"
To bid on the one "permanent" seat, go to the following link to bid on RPG marketplace for the spot, you must be registered at the site:

Top bid on the spot in the Charity game is still only $10! Are you kidding me? It should be ten times that for the honor of sitting at the table with these gentlemen, having them sign your character sheet, dice bag, rulebook; posing for pictures, and in general acting a fool with the guys you have admired for decades. I tell you what, I challenge you to bump the price by only five bucks, whatever it is when you go to RPGmarketplace, and see what happens.
I'll even sweeten the pot with a one of a kind signed gaming item if you win! It's for a kid's charity, for goodness sake! YES DO IT FOR THE KIDS!
