No Baby... I Gotta Say It

Just looked at the pdfs of this LotFP stuff. I thought I should at least look at his stuff, since I really don't pay much attention to Mr. Raggi. So, after perusing the torrent pdfs (yes, I often download torrents, fuck off if that offends you)... here's my opinion.
IT'S GODDAMNED D&D. AGAIN.
IT'S ANOTHER RELEASE OF D&D. SWEAR TO GOD.
OH MY FUCKING GOD, THIS ASSHOLE JUST REWROTE D&D, STUCK SOME HOUSERULES IN, AND FUCKING MARKETED IT. AND EXPECTS ME TO BUY IT. HE EXPECTS ME TO TAKE HIM FUCKING SERIOUSLY.
I SWEAR ON THE TITS OF VALHALLA'S HOTTEST VALKYRIE, IF I EVER MEET THIS PATHETIC MEAT SACK, I'M GOING TO KICK HIM STRAIGHT IN THE BALLS AND LAUGH MY DEATH LAUGH.
WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY IS: THIS MOTHER FUCKER IS TRYING TO SELL ME A GAME I HAVE IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT FORMS. AGAIN.
Ahem. Ok, finer points. The cover artwork on several products is nice. Not inspiring, but professional looking. He has some interesting house rules that seem pretty neat... but it's stuff I could read in a forum somewhere, like here for example, and incorporate myself. I don't need another fucking book, James Edward Raggi the Fourth you Finnish fucking sheetstain.
It's just another form of D&D. It looks like S&W... fuck! At least Matt Finch had the goddamned common decency to distill the best of the brown books into one cohesive manual. This shit... it looks just like S&W... feels, smells and tastes the same.
When the fuck is someone gonna give me something new?

You know what? I'm gonna start my own cartoon strip. I'm gonna draw Snoopy with antlers, Charlie Brown with an afro, Lucy with hooker boots, Linus in drag, and Schroeder is going to replace Axl Rose as lead singer of GnR, and I'm gonna call it Walnuts. I think I can make a bundle off the poor dumb sons of bitches who will buy anything!
And after I get rich and famous, I'm going to save all my snotty kleenexs and put them on eBay at suborbital prices, because there are basement dwellers who will buy it because I'll be fucking famous.
GOD.

Everybody hold fast for the goddamned Walnuts! It's gonna take Sunday morning newspapers like a fucking nazi blitzkrieg.

I'm serious! Is this the best we can goddamned do, people? Is this what the hobby has spiralled down the drain towards? Jerking each other off and copying the same rules set again and again and again and again and again and... OH! Don't forget this one... it has special rules for child molestation! THAT'S gonna get a fucking Ennie!... and again.
THANK GOD for folks like Joe Browning and Suzi Yee who at least have the fucking vision to create a different game (Sorcery and Super Science)... and a few others.
I
FUCKING
HATE
PARASITES.

Oh and Woodstock's gonna be a velociraptor that eats all the neighborhood pets and Snoopy has to bury the remains at night to cover for his friend.
Ok, that's all for now.

Welcome back, Semaj Khan! (Not that you were ever totally gone, but you were pretty scarce for awhile, and were missed

)

Never. That was the whole point of a thread I started a while back called "D&D What it Promises and What it Delivers."
Pretty sure you saw it.
D&D is the Holy Grail. There is nothing new. Everything is what you make of it.

What brings this little rant up? Didn't we already know this?

I don't read every thread on this board, Clang. There's something about Raggi that makes my mind blank him out. But I decided to be fair tonight and look at his stuff just to give him the benefit of the doubt. Bad move.

Not entirely. After all, you didn't buy it and now you know that you don't want to. Looks like a bright side to me.

Ha! So what you're saying is that my campaign notes are just as good as Raggi's, but I've got better taste & sense by not
fooling myself that its good enough to publish?
I wouldn't even buy my own set of campaign notes, why would I want to buy his?

Wait until you see mine; I plan to sell them wedged into an adult magazine in a brown paper bag. You will buy them, do not fool yourself thinking otherwise!

Understood.
I have not been impressed by what I have read either. Nor do I share his opinions on old school gaming.
