Just the trailer is pretty fucked up. My wife likes Rutger Huaer (I'm sure she's thinking "Ladyhwak" or something), and I watched the trailer with her the other day. She was all, "Oh shit...I'm not watfhing that!"

When I even here the title, I have to say aloud, "HOBO... with a SHOTGUN!" in my best old man voice. Does my wife think I'm a doosh? Sure. Fuck her. We're talking about hobos with shotguns saving humanity for god's sake.

Wow, that's almost signature worthy! :P

Inconsequential spoilers near the bottom.

I know. I know. For years we've all wondered what type of film would a Warhol_Argento_Kubrick Golem make. Well, I have seen the 21st Century, and it's frightening.

Yes, if you're a fan of Warhol's Bad and Dracula*, Argento's Once Upon a Time in The West and Tenebre and Kubrik's A Clockwork Orange, then this movie might, just might, be your cup o' tea.

Unabashedly violent.

Shamelessly banal dialogue delivered with the earnestness of Shakespearean actors with neither a wink nor uncomfortable delivery.

Hauer can put Hobo up on the mantlepiece alongside Roy Batty and Martin.

This movie is so deceptively good. I'm lacking the necessary vocabulary here, but all of the elements of a bad '70s/'80s slasher B-movie are on purpose, and well done. This movie is studiously bad, and therefore, terrific.

And, the Tom Cruise Risky Business twins are just too damned terrific an idea.

And, if you see it because of this review, and you don't like it. Well, all I can say is "Welcome to fuck town!"

* Okay, technically, Andy only "presented" Dracula, but he allowed his name on it, so it counts.

I agree! So bad that it's good, but really only because you know it's hell-bent on indulging every exploitation-cliche possible.

The DUNGEON MASTERS GUIDE City of Brass cover is good and bad at the same time. While its very representational of a high level adventure, it sends a clear message to the dumb: Satan is going to cornhole Miss USA with a big red member and theres nothing science or the military can do about it. - Gene Weigel

I strongly suggest you watch Zardoz to "normalize" your Hobo-with-a-shotgun experience, because ANYTHING is normal compared to Zardoz.

I've seen Zardoz, too.

I think I need to go watch A Clockwork Orange

Spacehunter? I love that movie. In fact, I gotta see if that's on Netflix, and about Ice Pirates too. It could be a double feature at the Red Cathedral this weekend. :)

No. Not even close.

Go over to youtube, search for Forbidden Zone alphabet song.

Don't do it at work.
