This is actually very good to know. I'm still a relative noob to ebay, and I don't know which and who to trust. But ebay backs up sales made through them don't they? I've bid on stuff several times, but always seem to get outbid at the last minute. People must babysit their bids obsessively. I let it ride until a I get an email or something, or I'll check in once a day. I tend to buy most of my used stuff through Amazon/Alibris, etc. Good to know about this seller though -- thanks

Yeah, I agree.. I lost a few in the beginning thinking that I would start bidding with several days or even hours left. All that did was start the bidding war early and inflate the price. Now I wait until there's only a minute or so left to get involved. Feels like gaming the system, but it comes down to that last minute anyway, many times.

No idea. I only recently began using eBay (primarily to acquire OOP D&D books). I think my very first ass-kicking came when I tried to buy some Greyhawk stuff last year.

eBay was a snipefest 10 years ago as I recall, when I was buying a lot of arcade stuff. It's the only rational bidding strategy - it maximizes your chance of getting a steal.

Now as a seller, I strongly encourage you to bid early and often. It's the only way to be sure (that I get high prices).

Normally, I don't touch sellers with less than a 99% approval rating and any negative feedback for the past 6 months. t&t's overall feed back is 99%, and stupidly, that's all I noticed when I bought (or so I thought) this module. However, now I see they have over 300 negatives for just this past month alone, and over 1100 non-positives for the past year. Shame on me for not checking out this disreputable business more closely before clicking on the Buy It Now button. It's on them, however, for acting in bad faith.

As far as I know, you're NEVER allowed to list something on e-bay, and then just sell it to someone else. That's just what they admitted to doing here:

I understand your frustration. We have a huge inventory of every social game in the world that is constantly in fluctuation and what would appear to be a mistake on our part is just the system updating. By the time your order entered our system the item was out of stock and we didn't and wouldn't know that others were on there way into the system(belive me, we would much rather sell you your item!). That is when we make the decision to refund you your cash, because we want to respond to our customers needs in a timely manner. Even if anitem comes back into stock, if the decision to refund a customers cash has been made that is what we do. You can only imagine what kind of confusing situations this would cause if a item goes out of stock and back in stock 3 or 4 times a day and decision making has to reversed every time. No one would ever receive product and production would be brought to a stand still.

I use Ebay quite a bit and tend to always use Buy It Now. When I do see something I need in an auction I use a bid snipe program. Amazon and Albiris have pretty ridiculous prices.

T&T does have a shaky rep. Generally you are ok with the cheap stuff, but their tendency to use stock photos for everything makes buying anything collectible the worst kind of crapshoot.

Ebay is actually much better for buyers these days. Basically, you have all the power, and can get a refund for almost any reason.

This is the best e-bay strategy for getting what you want. I think anyone would agree.

I've been patient with ebay, and its paid off.

I paid $33 + shipping for Titan, when they were normally going for $60 - $80 and even more at the gencon auction.

Got Divine Right for $55, shipped.

Wooden Ships and Iron Men: $18 + shipping.

Circus Maximus: $16 + shipping.

EON Cosmic Encounter: $18 + shipping (this was before the FFG re-issue when they were going for $50 - $70)

Now, it took me two years of watching and waiting to get some of those in some cases, but I wasn't poised over my keyboard at the end of every auction, either.

What happened to TRP was shitty as hell, and not the first complaint I've heard about T&T.

That one. If I recall correctly, Marcus kept his personal game store, but sold the majority of his inventory of his webshop (which was disorganised but sometimes great for bargain-hunting... NKG's staff knows the realistic prices all too well, unfortunately ).
