You're not forgotten on this, and still cheering you on to a relatively speedy resolution.

Thanks. I was worried with the total silence from recruiters, et. al. last week. This morning several emailed me to apologize that they'd been out of the office. On top of that, I realize that, it having been month end at most places I might work, no one had any time to make decisions about interviews.

This week is looking up.

Continued prayers, etc. well appreciated. But I do ask that PandP not exterminate the race of Hobbits with his ongoing sacrifices.

Some good progress today. Three interviews early next week, all in Dallas-Fort Worth.

One is with a head hunter.
One is with a head hunter who has a contract job for me.
One is with an actual company looking to fill an actual vacancy. Immediately.

Keep praying, sending good vibes, sacrificing whatever. It's working. And my wife, my kids, and my Tentacled Overlords (who hold the lien on my soul) appreciate it. 8)

Uhh... the difference between the first two and the last (at least in my case/life), in my experience, is nil.

Good to see things are looking up, Flam! Are you looking to return to your previous field or are you investigating lateralling into a new field? I have heard of many people using their discontinuation with a company as an opportunity to pursue a new line of work.

Lord knows that if I stop working with my company I'm going to start afresh as a bait farmer . . .

I'm looking down the road at a major career shift, but for now the demands of Mature Adult Responsibilities necessitate my continuing to draw those "lucrative" corporate paychecks.

For all that, one of the positions I'm interviewing for next week would be a move into an IT role; the other would be more of a business development role for a software company.

In any event, I'm working out the details of getting myself back to grad school for either Classics or Medieval studies sometime in the next couple of years. If I go for a PhD I want my dissertation done before I turn 40.

Back In A Job!

I accepted an offer from a software company this morning. Nice growing niche. Young company. Big change in corporate culture. And I'll be doing more programming (SQL, building reports and interfaces for use in Windows environments), and handling some customer support issues.

I'm really excited. A career change, really, and I think it's about time. I've been making finance work for most of the last decade, but it's never be a great fit.

Here's to new opportunities! Thank you for your help and support.
