That's one thing I really love about Kindle and other ebook readers: there is a lot of excellent literature available for them that is absolutely free. I now have over 1,000 books/collections on my kindle, almost entirely from their free offerings. Because of the kindle I now have an excellent collection of Sabatini, Machen, Blackwood,etc... and for only a few bucks, Clark Ashton Smith, Howard, Conan Doyle, Lovecraft & the Complete Works of Shakespeare. I have a ton of material on pirates, the norse, greek philosophy, comparitive mythology, horror stories, fairy tales, history and classics, and general odds and ends. It is absolutely amazing. Doesn't quite make up for jet packs, moon cities and martian colonies that I was promised as a child, but it is a step in the right direction.

I'm reading The Hobbit again for the billionth time, along with the Cities of Gold supplement for Fields of Glory . I will almost certainly follow this with Conquest of New Spain by Bernal Diaz for the billionth time, along with 2666 by Roberto Bolaño. Not quite sure how Tolkien fits in there with New World narratives, but I feel like there's some weird symmetry.

Just about to reread The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings/Silmarillion. I have a few of the volumes that contain Tolkien's various drafts. I've always wanted to get a complete set of them, and That 3 volume(I believe it's 3) set of The Hobbit. I've heard good things about it.
Finished Space Cadet by Heinlein. A good quick read from one of his young adult style books from before he went barking mad.

John Rateliff's edition of The Hobbit is excellent:

I found these two books last week in a local used book store. Although I've never seen any Tekumel RPG material, I am interested in reading these two books. They are next in the queue.

How many Tekumel novels are there? I have Flamesong and The Man of Gold.

There are apparently five:
- The Man of Gold (1984)
- Flamesong (1985)
- Lords of Tsámra (2003)
- Prince of Skulls (2002)
- A Death of Kings (2003)
IIRC from comments that Victor Raymond made @ NTX, the last three are published by the Tekumel Foundation.

I've picked it up, but haven't gotten to it yet. I've read The Hobbit quite a few times now, guess it's time to break it out.

Been slowly re-reading, when I have the odd bit of free time, a compilation of Somerset Maughm's Greatest Hits. Also, going to start Book Three of Fafhrd and Mouser's adventures. Enjoyed the first book a great deal. Some of the yarns in Book Two were jolly good, though thought couple of the later stories were a bit off.

I'm midway through Marryat's
Mr. Midshipman Easy. It's excellent; thanks, again, for the suggestion. It's not exactly what I was expecting, but the story flows well and is quite humorous and entertaining. I'll be reading more Marryat. Do you recommend any specific titles?

I picked up a lot of Andre Norton novels in the used book store too. Right now, I'm reading Star Rangers. I love the pulp.

Lately, I don't. For me, leisure stuff tends to come in bursts of activity. I'll read a lot for a while, then I'll get tired of that and work on D&D stuff for a while, then I'll get bored with that and focus on guitar for a while. Et cetera.
