It's probably because I'm a child in these matters, but I didn't know he'd written it (since I know next to nothing about the JG output). That's awesome!

You've now made my decision even more difficult...

I'm trying not to take all these cancellations and near-cancellations personally, but I'm definitely becoming suspicious... :(
Well, there are so many things keeping me away, it isn't funny:
1) aforementioned vacation days.
2) my parents are coming in thursday night for 2 weeks.
3) My truck died this past weekend.
4) Today, we found out my wife needs to have her gallbladder removed.

GenCon is in jeopardy now, as well.

Like Morton Salt, it never rains but it pours. Sorry to hear about this. Prayers for you and yours. Sometimes being an adult really does suck.

Sounds like a damn Waylon Jennings song, don't it?

Speaking of which...

We are supposed to bring our own 4-6 level characters?

I saw a list somewhere on the con site that showed who was in what event. I can't remember where that is now. It would be wise to work out as much as we can before we get there to save time, such as what class of character everyone is planning on bringing etc...
You can go look at the event registration tab, find the event, and you'll see two buttons. Click the one for attendees and it'll tell you who is signed up for those.

Not sure if Rob is going have everyone generate their 4th-6th level characters on site or if he wants people to bring them pregenerated. Might be worth asking.
You do realize how important this post of yours is? Had Rob not been contacted we would have all arrived at half strength! So for what it's worth...thanks!

I still haven't decided what I'm doing Thursday night, but with all the openings I'm not too worried about a good game or a pick-up game.
I'm actually surprised Geoff Dale's Treasure Vaults of Lindoran game has so few entrees...how often do you get to run through a Judges Guild module by the guy who wrote it? But there should be a lot of things to do even for Thursday night....plus the Mon-Thurs night reception at Staybridge features free beer and wine (those fools!)

Thursday evening was the hardest decision to make. I wanted to play in the Ruins of Lindoran, but there was also Mythmere's game, Kuntz's game, Kask's game, and Winter's Gamma World. Reading through the background to Kask's game swayed my decision. So many good games!

At Dr. The Red Priest's advice, I did more research pending the warning my doctor just gave me about ethanol and Flagyl.
Because the Flagyl-alcohol reaction is said to resemble the Antabuse-alcohol reaction, researchers originally assumed that they work the same way. Ordinarily, the liver breaks down ethanol in two steps: first into acetaldehyde, then into acetic acid. Antabuse inhibits the second step, causing levels of acetaldehyde in the blood to rise. The increased blood acetaldehyde causes the acute symptoms of vomiting, flushing, etc.

More recent research has shown that Flagyl does not inhibit the breakdown of acetaldehyde, and that blood acetaldehyde does not increase when Flagyl and alcohol are combined. Therefore, some other mechanism must be at work. One set of researchers (Karamanakos et al. 2007) suggested it may be related to increased serotonin because they were able to show that Flagyl increases brain serotonin in rats. Another set of researchers (Visapää et al. 2002) noted that there are only 10 human case reports of a bad Flagyl-alcohol reaction and suggested that the problem may not be as common as previously thought. They did, however, note that it is possible that this "reaction can occur in some subgroups," so it is still wise to avoid mixing Flagyl and alcohol.

From my research, it appears there have been 8-10 reported cases of alcohol/Flagyl issues in 13 years. Many people report no problems having a few bevs while on this.

Ergo, I will need to roll on the Potion Miscibility Table.

Let's all hope for a 01, so everyone takes 6-60.

I will have a beer today to see if it makes me sick. My guess is that it won't.

I feel bad for everyone that can't make it, cause we had such a blast last year, and this year we have more guests, more games, more prizes, seminars, more attendees, and a much nicer hotel. I hope the many tales of adventure can sway some of you guys next year, but I understand the financial stuff...seriously, I will be using money from the T-shirts I purchased (all $500 worth) and my few boxes of old D&D stuff for sale to fund any buying and eating out I'll be doing this weekend. So buy a T-shirt, or I will lose your raffle tickets!!!

Anyway can't wait to see most of you guys tomorrow, especially the guys I have never met.

With Joe cancelling Friday morning, we may be in a bit of a pinch event wise at that time, if someone wants to run a pickup game and can get 4+ players to join we'll give you a board room, since we'll have two empty in that slot. Just let Doug or I know at the con....

Mike, I could probably add another slot to each of my sessions. IIRC, I was pretty conservative about how many people I would take.

We'll see who shows up, if we can squeeze a few more victims in, we will!
