I wouldn't call them different enough to be upset about anything.
No, only that the new one looks like a wide-grinning, devil-horned Bullet-tooth Tony from Snatch :)

I agree. It's certainly not the greatest work of art in the world, but it's definitely better than a lot of the original artwork I've seen on their website. Maybe it's a bad copy, but at least they had the sense to make a bad copy of a great piece of art.

IMO, that wasn't exactly a great cover anyway. I'm more partial to the cover on the reissue.

Let me say that again:

Dude, how many pots have you smoken? I know it's a matter of taste and all, but the Easley cover can't even compare to the Tramp cover.

Did the dryad mate with her oak tree or something? Always thought the dryad was supposed to be some sexy little forest number. The only way this thing would give an adventurer wood is if it clobbered him with its arm.

'She' is a direct rip-off of the Warhammer dryad. Is this the best the hacks at Wizbro can come up with?

Get use to it! They are making sweeping changes to the game! Succubi are devils because they are mostly humanoid. All demons are elementals now. The Lamia is a mass of beetles around the bones of a fay (WTF!). Nymphs, Sylphs, and Dryads (unless you count that walking ficus as a Dryad) are gone because all monster are meant to be attacked and killed, and wiz-bro want to cut down on anything to sexy to make the game more appealing to women. In fact, they are really PC about the nudity! The Marilith, for example, is topless, yet covered up (at least she is less fugly. hell, at least she is still a she!).

Bah! That's not a Marilith... this is a Marilith!

How does she use those weapons? Supernatural strength and wilful ignorance of basic physics! :D

If I had any artistic ability, I'd draw (or paint) a marilith with big, bodacious ta-tas and proud nipples on display...just because I could...

Already been done by TSR, I think. The Hellbound comic was pretty risque with its Marilith.

[edit] Looks like she was wearing nipple plates.

Stop! every last one of you. You are tainting (heh heh taint) me with the pics and info of the changes 4e is making.

On a serious note, I hope 4e a success and the people that play it enjoy the hell out of it, but I knew there was a reason I was limiting my exposure to it. And I'm glad I did. I will keep my succubi as demons, my dryads and oaks unmated and my women topless. Oh yes, the women will remain topless. :D

But not the FUGLY v3.5 Marilith!

Screw this "Marilith" noise. Type V Demon -- that's what my copies of Eldritch Wizardry and the Monster Manual say (and yeah, I know later printings added "(Marilith, et al.)" but it's not in my copy). Also, I just realized for the first time that Sutherland's illo of the Type V Demon was redrawn from EW to the MM -- all these years I'd assumed it was the exact same illo, but it's not: the MM version is a mirror-image and includes a lot more detail on the weapons, bracelets and armbands, and serpent-tail.

I also like the way the 2 Sutherland EW illos have the same weapons and jewelry (except for the armband on the top-left arm, missing in the "action" picture). It's little consistencies like that that make me love Sutherland's art so much. :)

And while not a type 5 per se, you cannot have a conversation like this without bringing up the most awesome fantasy movie of all time.

Just put a snake torso on her and you're good to go.

Edited for the combat scene. No sound, but still great. Rest in peace, Ray.
