Is it like Ford Venture? The Venture was made by Chevy.
Anyway, this won't be the fourth edition of D&D. It'll be (depending on how you want to count it) at least the 6th, arguably the 10th.

THAT was the first thing that I thought when I read the page!
I guess WOTC thinks that is is powerful enough now to not only re-write the history of D&D as they see fit, but also big enough in the britches to re-write the history of Ford and Chevy.

It's a convergence of random events in a controlled setting that forms the basis of a heroic tale in the minds of the participants. Powerful and primitive social magic that can't be reliably explained but only experienced. And IMO, a much more 'real' experience than the forced plot you see in most 'storyteller' games. That was one of the suggestions we made back then, anyway.
(I also requested a bar of gold be included with each PH, but mine seemed to be a suggestion they absolutely refused to consider.)-
